The 04 max recommends 91 octane, that's why you see better mpg when using it.
High compression engines designed to run on high octane just run better make more power on good name brand fuel.
I run 91 octane in my 1995 Legend for the same reasons, it requires premium. I can run reg/mid but I get 3-4 MPG less. So its best to stick to it. -

As said I run what the manual recommends. Mine calls for 91 but most of the stations around here have 87, 89, and 93 so i use 93. Only know of a couple stations that have 91 around here.
Kills me when people who have cars that call for regular run premium. I had a Mustang GT as my last car and it ran on 87, i always got asked why I'm not using premium. That car rans the same no matter what grade I put in it so why spend extra when its not needed? If your car is modified though thats a different story. -
@wilberdmillz I read somewhere that you could use half & half, in your case half 93 and half 89. But I don't see where using all 93 will hurt. But I would always use what the manual recommends too. If you can't find it exactly, I would do what you have been doing and go above. I understand you should NEVER go lower, (heard it's hell on your engine in the long run).

Regular...its cheAper
-
gas too high.... I used to use 89 but it now only regular
-
low octane
-
89, my car doesn't ask for anything higher.
-
I use 87 in all three of my cars, I haven't seen the difference when using 93 except for the higher price.
-
Cars ultimately break down.......thats why i use regular..even if my car calls for sumthing different, i dont give a ? ........ cars loose value minute u drive off d lot
-
if ur car says premium only u put in only premium unless its an emergency.....they dont put that on cars for no reason
-
Yep, I hope the people saying they use regular have a car that calls for regular or they're just asking for trouble. -
put whatever the manufacturer recommends
lower rated than necessary gasoline will eventually cause sluggishness and knocking
higher rated causes too thin of an air/fuel ratio that eventually leads EGR deposits, greyed spark plugs, etc.......... -
Regular Unleaded

My car calls premium.....i put in regular....bought it used...been using it four yrs now.....works good -
I only use Shell's V Power or BP's Ultimate... Unless Im running really low and have to put in abit of ? fuel to tide Me over till I get to Shell or BP lol Especially on My bike it says to use high octane fuel
-
Infiniti calls for Regular Unleaded for the G37 and FX.
-
reggie ftw.....i'll use some premium gas when i get a premium car and got some premium money
-
87 in the truck and 93 in the bike.
Cost 80 to fill the truck and 20 fill the bike. -

daum 87 is mad low, think our lowest octane possible is 95!
superbikes should be atleast 97 or 98 cant remember which one, but it says on the petrol cap... i never use schitt fuel it fcks your engine... in asia they get like 106 rated octane, fckn crazy stuff...

With these gas prices, need you ask?
-
Premium but my car requires it(2010 maxima). ? ass ? at the dealership told me mid would be cool. I'm no car expert but there is a huge difference between the way the car drives when I put in premium. Never will I make that mistake again...

Even tho I use regular I never fed into that premium is the best option ? if your car requires it then of course it will run good
