Jim Carrey and Fox News are not interested in playing nice with one another. The comic actor, 51, is in a war of words with the conservative news network that all began with a Funny or Die skit posted earlier this week. In the Hee-Haw-inspired clip that criticizes opponents of gun control reform, Carrey parodies the late Charlton Heston, screen legend and former President of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Fox commentator Greg Gutfield called Carrey a "pathetic tool" for the skit, and said on The Five on Friday March 29: "I guess Jimmy thought he couldn't lose a debate to a dead man . . . That's what's really funny -- he did and now Charlton Heston has a brighter future in films than Jim Carrey."

Carrey took the extra step of releasing a formal statement against the network, which he refers to as "F-- News," slamming it as a "a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views . . . I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies," Carrey's statement continues.

"F-- News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture ?
that no amount of Garlique could cure."

Gutfield went on call Carrey "washed up" and a civil rights pioneer "of sucking."
