Ice ice baby really isn't a bad song . It jus has a negative stigma due to the artist behind it

Let's just be honest for a second. If this were released today, it'd be better than most the singles on the radio. It's also better lyrically than most singles being played on the radio. Plus, this video alone promotes the four main bases of hip hop culture. Can you really say that about hip hop on the radio these days?
Back when originality and authenticity was the norm, this song was ridiculed, but in today's climate of frauds and chumps running around claiming G status, this song would fit right in.
I'm not a Vanilla Ice fan by any means, but the ridicule and lambasting of this song was a product of the time it was released. -

Because of Vanilla Ice's career dying on the cross, white boys can do whatever they please in hip hop and not face retaliation. Yeah, I was in high school when that song came out. I remember not having any opinion at all when it first came out. I just thought it was a rap song, by a white rapper and that was it. But then the song started to pick up steam. Pretty soon all the white girls in my school were chanting the chorus. I can remember watching either the American Music Awards or the Grammys, not sure which. But the category was Best Rap Song. And it was between MC Hammer (who I hated), Vanilla Ice and somebody else. Even though I couldn't stand MC Hammer, I was so happy and relieved when Hammer won over Vanilla Ice.
And yeah, if the threadstarter ever tries to give his opinion on the state of Hip Hop or list his top 10 MCs, somebody should just make a link to this thread. -
