Ice ice baby really isn't a bad song . It jus has a negative stigma due to the artist behind it

Same thing as baby got back . That's a real dope song but most people jus see it as pop/comedy

Let's just be honest for a second. If this were released today, it'd be better than most the singles on the radio. It's also better lyrically than most singles being played on the radio. Plus, this video alone promotes the four main bases of hip hop culture. Can you really say that about hip hop on the radio these days?

Back when originality and authenticity was the norm, this song was ridiculed, but in today's climate of frauds and chumps running around claiming G status, this song would fit right in.

I'm not a Vanilla Ice fan by any means, but the ridicule and lambasting of this song was a product of the time it was released.

if this song was released today vanilla ice would just relive the ridicule and lambasting the song garnered back then like that movie source code until he ends up in a dimension where he's not hung upside down by his ankles by suge knight and ambitionz az a rider is never recorded...

Vanilla Ice was the Jesus Christ of white boys. that ? 's career died for these white boys sins. That ? paid the price, went through all that ? so no other white rapper can go through it. Because of Vanilla Ice's career dying on the cross, white boys can do whatever they please in hip hop and not face retaliation. Eminem better have St. Van Winkle on his wall everyday thanking him for dying for his white boy sins.

It was prophecised. ? even got a halo on his album cover

    The passion of ice

Yeah, I was in high school when that song came out. I remember not having any opinion at all when it first came out. I just thought it was a rap song, by a white rapper and that was it. But then the song started to pick up steam. Pretty soon all the white girls in my school were chanting the chorus. I can remember watching either the American Music Awards or the Grammys, not sure which. But the category was Best Rap Song. And it was between MC Hammer (who I hated), Vanilla Ice and somebody else. Even though I couldn't stand MC Hammer, I was so happy and relieved when Hammer won over Vanilla Ice.

And yeah, if the threadstarter ever tries to give his opinion on the state of Hip Hop or list his top 10 MCs, somebody should just make a link to this thread.

Really ? , Vanilla Ice paved the way for Eminem? Are we supposed to take that seriously? Saying Vanilla Ice made it possibly for Shady is analogous to saying that primitive caveman drawings made the way for Di Vinci.

Yo, the song where the sample comes from Queen's Under Pressure is some major slaps. Being that there's no originality in hip hop today, I'm very surprised that no artist has tried to reuse this sample again and make it a hit.

This is some interesting trivia concerning this song. Queen/Freddie Mercury and David Bowie never performed this song live together.

The only credit Vanilla Ice gets from me is the fact that he banged Naomi Campbell and the opening to Cool As Ice (in which I should hang myself for watching)

This is a disturbing revelation. A tribute to ice ice baby...

The beat is hard. Queen's Under Pressure was a dope track in its own right, that's the only thing about this song worth mentioning is the GOAT sample

He kept denying that wasn't sampled from them and said he produced the beat
