Only matters for them Ivy/Elite schools that'll turn out Reginald Lewis' Obamas and Holders. Them people brilliant, they'll get in anyway. I always felt this ? was overblown and just another racist ? white people use against blacks, "unqualified" my ass.
Lots of underprivileged people need additional assistance (tutoring, summer classes, mentorship, internship) before the point of getting to college anyways.

    not surprised...

white men are scared...the irony is in a few years they will be the minority in this country and could have benefited from affirmative action

I believe one of the goals of affirmative action was to amend for past discrimination so their would have to be a history of discrimination before they could benefit from 'affirimative action'. Being in a minority class in itself does not qualify you alone I believe.

    More info

    http://homepages.se.edu/affirmative-action/4/

◾While disadvantaged minorities receive additional consideration because of race (and the history related thereto), it is not true that whites would automatically gain more places in selective institutions of higher education if race were not a factor in admissions decisions.
◾In The Shape of the River, written by former university presidents William Bowen of Princeton University and Derek Bok of Harvard University, the authors pointed out that eliminating consideration of race would have increased the likelihood of admission for white applicants at selective undergraduate institutions from 25% to only 26.5%.
◾Given the overwhelming numbers of white applicants, and the factors that tend to benefit socially and economically advantaged students, athletes, and others, Gratz and Grutter (plaintiffs in the lawsuit against the University of Michigan) were more likely disadvantaged by their socio-economic or class status than by their race.

If you wanna go to school pay for it, whether by working or student loans, grants like everyone else....

They gotta let you in first.

    Who is they? The "man"?

? all that....These colleges & universities are businesses that are primarily concerned about a student's ability to pay tuition. I'm living in Texas, originally from New York City & it was so much easier getting into college here, than back home.

Affirmative action has nothing to do with how you pay for school.. You are mixing the issues. It has to do with admissions..

You obviously misconstrued my point....I will clarify it for you....Gaining admissions shouldn't be based on racial or gender factors, it should be based on academic ones foremost, but mainlly the ability to pay for tuition should be the general path to admissions....IMO

Still two different issues and colleges should not be bribed in order to let you in. Academic standing should always be the primary incentive and they should be able to charge more if they are able to produce higher quality graduates, which Ivy league schools do and does. Regardless, they offer ways for intelligent yet broke folks to get in. Still has nothing to do with racism and keeping kids out because of their skin tone even after they meet those factors. Affirmative Action doesn't truly address that nor does in incentivise higher standards in our community.

I don't see any issues, it's common sense & it is what it is. At the end of the day, educational institutions are businesses. Ideally, students invest in themselves in some form or another (Personal and/or Career incentives) when they pay for admissions. What bribes are you talking about?

I disagree. This is how degree farms are born and this is why America is losing on the education front. There should be higher standards. This is why i support free tuition at least for Public Colleges. Only your lack of education, not economic discrimination should keep you out. Even then, there should be continued effort to increase educational levels even with repeat offenders.

This will only make us stronger. We should refocus our education on black colleges and keep crackers out.

LOL c'mon bruh. Of all the events that has happened in the history of America past and present, the AA that can be banned by states will cause ? to transform like optimus and form together like voltron?

yea the ? right. And I hate saying that ? , but its just the damn truth

Out of the entire black population in the country, probably about 10 percent has heard or read about this. 95 percent would more than likely not give a ? .

Affirmative action is to make sure a certain minimum percentage of jobs and school vacancies are set for minorities to prevent discrimination. Just because they're minorities ,it doesnt mean theyre unqualified.

Bruh, was the Supreme Court decision passed before that girl decided to try for Michigan? Do you know the future and whether this will increase the spotlight on the HBC's or do you think it shouldn't? You seem so assured and determined that we should fail.

You said that this happening would cause blacks to get stronger and that we should refocus on black education and keep whites out...

I quoted that ? ...you stupid maphuka. And I responded...to that ? ....you stupid maphuka.

In my response, I said ? wouldn't care about this ? anyway, because they probably didn't hear about it or wouldn't give a ? . They are still going to go for the college that they want to go to...

By my personal definition ...its the wealth, influence and access only one of these will change much

That's not your personal definition, that's a common sociological definition for minority.

Bruh....either way you look at it, colleges & universities are degree farms lol! It's a business, a racket, that is ideally structured to produce crops of graduates marketed towards big industries....

I really can't grasp what you're griping about. It sounds more like political ideological disconnect between our viewpoints. You appear to have socialist sentiments which isn't necessarily a bad perspective. I'm a realist & more inclined to think in terms of economics.

There are other more efficient non-race based methods to encourage & ensure racial diversity among students besides AA.

I never said i was for Affirmative Action. . It's mainly aimed at work places anyway because most colleges are socialistic. Big businesses are discriminatory across all factors. I think we should go further in holding business accountable to our society. And yes i am liberal in my views of how we can handle our countries education. Being a realist doesn't mean that you are correct. It only means that you see the world in your own reality but there are other realities. Most countries support education without economic hardship and many countries tailor education to focus on realistic markets. Degree farms mainly produce fodder and there is hardly a guarantee when big industries are barely hiring these overproduced degree holders. Our industry and middle class collapsing because of such practices. I'm more about humanity and sustainability of the human race.

? don't want to create, or support their own communities. you ? have no infrastructure. yet have a problem with affirmative action.

affirmative action don't provide opportunities for the unqualified, they actually give qualifyed people an opportunity, that would have been overlooked in the past because of a culture.
every Rights blackS Have, we haD to fight and take it, meaning they Didnt want Us to have it in the first place.

unemployment in the black community is high now?
wait till this trend of cutting away affirmative action Start spreading. you higher Than art Gorillaz, will be screechin a different tune.

Affirmative Action for me is cool in cases for organizations that have a long history of discrimination or have benefited from slavery. In other cases, affirmative action actually makes Whites look at Blacks as "those guys who don't belong". To be honest, I'd rather not be anywhere where I'm not wanted. That's just me though.

Double irony though in that White women have benefited the most from affirmative action. At least they'll suffer a bit too lol
