I'm thinking its only 6 episodes for the first season. If it has a lot of traction might get 8-10 in season 2.
Or might be like a lot of those British series where they only have 6-8 episode season's -
There is no other season unless enough people support these first 6 episodes like The Walking Dead s1 had 6 same thing.

I don't think powers will be very prominent in the show. If I'm not mistaken this is supposedly a very loose adaptation of Journey to the West and the kid is the Monkey King (aka Son Goku).
