New PS3 Firmware Adds Store Recommendations
Options
A small firmware update set to go live for PlayStation 3 will add recommendations for games and videos on the PlayStation Store.
Firmware 3.41, which is expected to be available for download soon (i.e. sometime tonight), adds a "You May Like" section while browsing details of a selected title. The recommendations are based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you're currently looking at.
"This feature is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it's another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all — similar to the five-star ratings feature we added in the last firmware update," said Sony's Eric Lempel.
Sony notes that while the update will go live shortly, the feature won't be available until the end of July.
