Also, many may not know this but getting a refund is not necessarily a good thing.
It really means that the govt has been taking from you all year long and paying you money back that sat in a back gathering no interest. Basically they used your money that was rightfully yours to do whatever they seen fit. Now they have to pay back the loan they got from you without the interest.
I've been trying to figure out how to get it just right so that they won't take too much but also won't be expecting me to pay next year -
Its a windfall right now for ya boy right now. I just left my job w/ the state for a job w/ the county. They had to cut me a check for $5300 for my 380 hours of unused vacation/bonus/holiday comp time. Then I just filed my taxes and getting $2200 back. As much as I wanna be a ? & blow it on dumb ? Imma pay off my Jeep a year early & get rid of a bunch of small debts I've been working on paying off. The only debt I'll have after that is my student loans. Important b/c my lease at my town house is up in September & I'm looking at buying a house.

Now the trip is that if you owe them, they charge interest out the ass.
That's why your best bet is to break even, at least for the average joe. And if you know you're going to owe, pay them asap. ? around and pay double doing payments. I swear that's what they want too. Long as you ain't running from that debt when it's time to collect, they'll gladly let you slide with a little extra. -
I gotta give my ex about 40% of it and I'll prolly just save the rest.
