Maybe we should start a #CongressSoWhite hashtag for better representation since somebody was listening.

La La Land is actually a great film. I've mentioned it on here in the underrated films and TV section, but it's not near as schmaltzy or cheesy as the marketing makes it out to be. I wouldn't be surprised if it cleaned up - it seems to win over everyone who's seen it, and it did the same for me as well.

It's about time they diversified the Oscars. Shame it took such a kick up the ? from last year.

Some of those "black" movies are also pushing white liberal agendas. Not truly black. ? think they're slick. Only Hidden Figures and Fences which are gems are truly valid.

Manchester by the Sea and la la land are going to sweep SMMFH. Casey Affleck gonna come up too SMMFH.

Fences and Moonlight SHOULD be the biggest winners.

Fences does not deserve best picture.

Denzel is deserving of best actor for his performance but the movie as a whole was not that great.

Casey did his thing in Manchester too. Whats your beef there?

If you don't like musicals don't watch it. If you don't mind them and watched classic ones it's ok. It's a suckfest of old hollywood the same ones the jews that run hollywood today grew up on and always romanticize. So naturally it got financed and awarded. It's well made though unlike a lot of other modern musicals.

    few questions

    What is "truly black" ?

What wrong with pushing "white" liberal agendas ?

Whats wrong with Moonlight or Loving ?

Because further emasculation of the black man on screen and interracial relationships is a very pro black agenda right?

is there a definitive "pro black" agenda, i always assumes the idea was to be free to express yourself without inward or outward judgement ?

Last time i checked some consequential pro-black leaders came from interracial relationships, you could argue a good percentage of African Americans are descendant from interracial relationships, And is Loving vs. Virginia not an important story on Civil Rights in America just as much as a Hidden Figures ?

As for Moonlight it dont get more "problack" than a Black dude writing, directing, producing and casting black actors IMO, moreover telling stories that quite frankly do exist in black communities but are seldom told.

Why cant we celebrate story diversity in black cinema

Nobody was emasculated in moonlight (unless you believe being ? in itself is emasculating) and loving v. virginia is a historical fact. Idgaf about that movie, but those are bad examples of Hollywood "pushing an agenda"
