yea i listed Roc separate as you could be signed to Def jam, but not the Roc

and prior to the partnership, Roc was its own brand anyway

Replace Cash Money with No Limit and that is it.

Def Jam is the godfather of rap labels. Bad Boy and Death Row controlled rap in the arguably best era of rap and both own two of the most iconic rap albums in hip hop history (The Chronic and Ready to Die). Can't have one without the other.

Really thinking about trading out Death Row for Ruthless Records.

No Limit was the label that broke the mold. From that point on signing to a major label was nearly a second thought. Why? Start your own. Other did it before Master P. but he was the one that made you truly believe anyone could do it. No Limit also helped usher in the big wave of southern rap.

Honorable Mention: Ruthless(could really take Death rows spot), Rawkus, Rap-a-lot, Rocafella, and Cash Money.

^^^ Those four labels are the catalyst that started rap music as we know it.

Yeah but this also around the rise of Rocafella and Ruff Ryders. I think they are all on the same level in terms of influence as a record label.

Would there be a CMR without No Limit? Would there have been a Death Row without Ruthless? A Rocafella or Murder Inc without Bad Boy?

So yeah I actually want to push Ruthless in place of Death Row.

    Def Jam
    Ruthless
    Bad Boy
    No Limit
