These two are up there with some of my favorite producers of all time and I've always imagined a versus between the two. Kanye West, arguably the pioneer of the sped up soul sample, can flip samples into sequences that are unrecognizable from the original song, while still sounding organic and hitting super hard. One of my favorite examples of this production style comes from the way he flipped Syreeta's "Black Maybe" into the beat for "U Black Maybe" on Common's Finding Forever album. I've always admired that aspect of his production.

On the other hand, The Neptunes completely changed the way hiphop can sound tho with the way that they would use percussion sounds like hand drums, bells, and just some other whacky sounding stuff. They can take the weirdest sounding stuff and make it knock. Not to mention that Pharrell and Chad play their own instruments and don't sample as much as Kanye. Which side do you think is worthy of making better beats/music in your opinion?
