I had somewhat of a hard time accepting that Nicki Minaj shared any similarities to Eminem. But lets run this down real quick and then I'll get to the main point of this thread.
Label/Movement:
Nicki Minaj - Young Money Cash Money; first lady of the team
Eminem - Aftermath Entertainment; white boy that can spit
Production of first album (on a major label):
Nicki Minaj - Somewhat average, but mostly laughable
Eminem - Somewhat average, but mostly laughable, ESPECIALLY from the man who made ? /Chronic/NWA/etc.
Gimmicks:
Nicki Minaj - Harakjuku Barbie and faux-British accents/voices
Eminem - Big-Bird-from-Sesame-Street yelling with a high pitched voice and Ken Kaniff
Subject matter:
Nicki Minaj - Money, fame, sex, hoodrat love, and critics/haters
Eminem - Being white, family issues, drugs, growing up impoverished, shock/horrorcore tales
Targeted demographic:
Nicki Minaj - 13-30 year old females and ? males
Eminem - most likely white people in general and anyone who loves lyricism and flow
With these things in mind, can we have an honest discussion on the comparison between Pink Friday and SSLP? I personally think Minaj's album is a watered down SSLP and should be treated as such.

you have to entertain, you got to be diffen't thats why nikki is killing the game right now, its why eminem sells records -
Pink Friday 11/22
-
It should also be noted that SSLP had 14 songs and 6 skits whereas PF has 13 songs and 0 skits.

sslp>>pf..
-
Pinky friday might outsell sslp first week numbers.
-
idk, i dont see the similarities, so im just gonna assume this is a shock thread meant to get shady team to go on another ? rant.
-
The fate of Nicki Minaj's album will be tested this week.
& the Slim Shady LP is a classic. But Noo waaay in hell does Pink Friday compare SMH.
SSLP is a classic depending on who you ask. I think it's a good/great album, but no neccessarily classic... and I place Infinite and MMLP in the category of classics. That's not to say SSLP didn't have some classic songs, but as an album, it falls short a bit.
Try not to let nostalgia stop you from comparing these two unlikely albums.Gimmicks:

SSLP debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart behind TLC's FanMail with 283,000 copies sold in its opening week. You might have a point. -
Soul Rattler you must be a ? to always pick on Queen Nicki like this

Why? I'm giving you the platform to elaborate, so go ahead and give me a good reason why these two albums shouldn't be compared. Hopefully, your argument isn't that SSLP is simply beyond comparison because that's a copout. -

How am I picking on the hoodrat ma'am? -
Slim Shady LP was a childish ass album in my opinion. Most of the songs was about silly ? but he got a past because of his lyrical skills and his delivery

I agree, which is what makes this comparison not only valid, but interesting as well. -

i know, but i dont really see that as being that similar. the themes are not similar, the gimicks are not similar, demographics arent similar, none of it really compares well imo. they are two completely different albums from two completely different artists released in two completely different times. all they have in common is that they are rap albums. -

And that's not enough for you to be able to compare which is better? I think the mere fact that the two are comparible at all says alot about both artists, for better or worse. -

GTFOH!!!!! she'll be lucky if it hits gold.smh. -
