Why When a Head Coach Retires, Do They Always Hire a New Coach?

Why doesn't the organization just make the highest assistant the head coach and keep the rest of the staff on board as well. That would keep a lot of programs with a family like atmosphere. Like when phil leaves after this season, why not just keep all the assistant coaches and triangle system in effect. Saves a lot of time and money. I guess this would be the coach in waiting system
