Both are ill, both will be legends. I think Dilla has way more skill and a better ear than Kanye though. When you listen to all the little things, the ambient sounds, the cross fades, the fine tuning of the samples and all those other tiny details, Dilla kills. I think he is a deeper artist than Yeezy. Thoughts?

I gotta go with Dilla, he was more cosistant in dropping hot beats, Kanye has some really bangin production but all his ? doesnt hit all the time.

I gotta go with Ye. Not hating on Dilla cuz Dilla is a legend and a ill as producer. Kanye is more diverse of a producer making tracks for people in hip hop, R&B, pop music, rock. Dilla crafts out good music plain and simple, but he doesn't work with a wide range of people

Draw. It's unfair because Kanye is still growing, and Dilla passed away about 5 years ago. But Dilla is one of the main reasons I appreciated underground Hip-Hop, and Ye has always been able to crossover while making quality music.

Dilla was probably a more graceful sampler, Ye is more clever though (Through the Wire)

I unno this one is hard to call............

Ill say ye, but thats because I havent gone through nearly as much dilla's production as I have Kanye's....

They are probably both legendary producers though..... its kinda like arguing Nas and Jay

I don't know if any producer's beats can get me in a trance the way Dilla's can. There's some unique quality about many of his beats that just creates a certain feeling. "Ambient sounds" as the OP described is probably what I'm trying to describe.

Hard decision for me, I really don't know. I know the couple beats that were from Dilla on "Be" (Love Is, It's Your World) definitely stood up to the rest of the beats on that Kanye executive produced album. (Just an example since both of their beats were used on that one album).

Dilla entrances the hip hop fan with his production. I can't even call it beats. It's far more than that to me.

And he goes uncredited A LOT. You'd be surprised what he has produced.
