Music producer Focus..., who's crafted hit songs for some of the biggest names in hip-hop, recently revealed that he's taken a job at UPS to pay the bills.
The NYC beatsmith signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment in 2002, and since then has produced tracks for artists including Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, and 50 Cent, just to name a few.
Despite his highly successful music career, it seems Focus... has struggled with some financial hardship. He spoke on his situation in an Instagram post put up on Tuesday:
"Life can change in an instant!!! I went through a rough transitional season and music wasn't paying the bills. I could've sat and let everything fall apart but, I chose to do what needed to be done at that moment and Jehovah blessed my efforts. I worked with one of the coolest cats I have ever met @qhambrick (best boss ever) and this job helped me realize a lot about myself."
"I am willing and able to take care of my family by any means necessary and I am always open to learn new things. True, my plan A was, and is my only plan BUT, when unforseen situations arise, will you sit and sulk in depression or be malleable and use the experiences to help you build a more fortified foundation? These are my reminders... I am not ashamed... Much love, people."

Why are y'all surprised tho ? Especially given how the music industry works. 98% of rappers aren't rich and don't have the money you think they do.
facts. this why these young rappers need manage their money properly -
what money? Most of these ? in debt to the labels. All that flash money came from their advance. You gotta recoup that money and fast. Sir Mix A Lot spoke on it and why he recouped on every single album he's ever done.

And the rest of these former aftermath artist weren't making much money during their run and money dries up reeeaal quick.
Bills still gotta be paid and if you ain't doing shows or got endorsement...
Then chances are you are broke in showbiz -
So essentially, man had a job... Now man has another job. Respect to him for getting paid.
Nothing wrong with having a legit 9 to 5. -

Man the IC has really grown up. I'm so proud of y'all.
-
That's crazy. Dude had a pretty dope solo album come out too. Always made dope beats, I'm surprised he isn't a bigger name especially with the folks he's worked with
-
Y'all told y'all on moonlight
Plus I used to work for UPS, I loved it. He did some great work on dr dres Compton album. Gotta do what you gotta do. Better than going to the streets and dealing like some other entertainers. And literally ? up your life. This a grown man move -
He had just produced tracks on Dr. Dre's "Compton" album back in 2015. Sucks this happened to him.

Do not under estimate the show money.. That brown paper bag is serious when artists go on the road. They eating good off of those shows. Everything else is pretty much the truth.. But that show Money is sweet.

In my world, we call that a loan. I never understood why they bragged bout money they owe. But also this is why so many drug dealers found they way in, they already had money. Same for other folks that came in with money. -
