I have yet to hear that one.
The master key/? lock analogy. A key that opens many locks is master key, but a lock that is opened by many keys is a ? lock.
Many a ? has used that as the logic behind why men can't be hoes/?
Lol that's actually not a bad analogy. Definitely double-standard ? , but great analogy.
Oh and ctfu @ that ether that @Maywood just delivered -

Watched the first episode...it was ok. The tone of it was exactly like the movie and had spike imprint all over it. The actors kinda bring it down for me. This is probly all of their first real gigs so I'll stall em out.
I'll keep watching but it's probly not something I'll binge...more of a watch an episode or 2 here and there kinda show. -
first ep was cool
def a spike lee production
not a bad thing
the dialogue didn't feel natural at times though and the constant pop culture references was little too much
i give it another ep before i decide to move forward -

Greer was funny to me in the movie...in the show he's lame. I like Mars in the show tho. -
Shoutout to fat joe and spike sister in ep 2
-
Not bad, happy for the black opportunities. Dope in a lot of areas, but some things were wack.
? fell all the way apart in the last episode.
Main character motivations were all over the place. Maybe that was intentional, but it ended up being plot speed bumps.
Delivering messages seemed to be more important than story.

I like it
-
I'm watching right now and on Episode 2...
I liked the film especially it shot in black and white..
I'm watching this ? with a grin on my face all through... I dunno if the plot as a movie can translate to a series
I've been watching some of Spike's recent work and it's interesting his casting of women in his movies: mostly unknowns -
It's cool so far, the dude playing Mars is a lil over the top!
-
@Madame_CJSkywalker this show is very bold in highlighting feminist values (I'm on Episode 4 now) ... do you still dig it?
-
my game got me watchin this ? ..
its ? wack..
this show is everything thats wrong wit ? ..
and the ? ? who date them.. -
Yea I'm not gonna lie I'm not really feeling the show...I'm only 3 eps deep but something is off. The movie incarnation of nola was more nuanced and balanced. The show version is whiny and unrealistic...and I don't like how they made the dude grabbing her the reason behind why she went to therapy. IIRC, in the movie she couldn't choose which dude she wanted to be with and the therapy helped her see the deeper issues behind why she was even keeping them ? around in the first place. It was a natural progression...the show trying too hard to fit in a bunch of today's ? and feels forced.
I'll keep watching cuz I like the visuals a lot but the story is meh... -

I typed that before I saw the butt shots...
But after 5 eps, I agree... -

it is corny at times and some things do feel forced, but i still dig it ...and i want to support spike
also satisfying seeing the show doesn't just focus on nola's sexuality but it also pays attention to the ways in which blk female bodies are constantly scrutinized and under surveillance (by the white cashier); exploited ( fat joe, reality TV); and threatened (by men on the street)
like how they fleshed out the main male characters..... the opal character as well benefited. glad they didn't just leave her this stereotypical ? who like to prey on straight women
don't necessarily like how jamie is now into this tortured philanderer...but glad the jamie/nola? from the movie has been omitted...big improvement...at least so far it has been omitted
on ep 7 i think... -

the writing could have improved with more focus, nuance...subtlety
but it's a spike lee joint ...not surprised
see she hate me.... to a lesser extent school days, jungle fever
still love him though
