"We have created something called 205 Live, which is a show involving our cruiserweights, which is another whole division in which we are starting up now, which will again have its own sources of revenue in terms of live events as well as other things that are all – merchandising, licensing and all of that." - Vince McMahon, February 2017

World Wrestling Entertainment will move forward with the first-ever 205 Live brand live events starting in January 2018, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

The current plan is for 205 Live to have its first standalone live events on the weekend of 1/18/18-1/20/18. We are told WWE will be targeting smaller buildings in the Northeast for that weekend, possibly the same venues they utilize for the WWE NXT brand.

It appears WWE will be taking a "let's walk before we can run" stance with the brand. The current 205 Live touring plan appears to be running 2-3 events over a weekend once a month, but beyond the January and potential February dates, we are told that nothing has been set in stone and it's being seen as something of an experiment.

The 205 Live brand, which recently celebrated its first anniversary, was born out of the very successful 2016 Cruiserweight Classic tournament, which led to a number of talents being signed full-time by WWE. 205 Live was launched a year ago under the strategy of adding weekly live programming to the WWE Network, effectively replacing the taped WWE Superstars series. Cruiserweight talents have been appearing regularly on Monday Night Raw since that time as a way to hook fans into subscribing to the WWE Network to watch the series.

Over the last six months, 205 Live took a major step forward with the addition of current Cruiserweight champion Enzo Amore, who brought a strong personality to the weekly storylines. The brand will get another boon when WWE NXT star Hideo Itami joins the roster shortly.

During a WWE quarter earnings conference call back in February, Vince McMahon noted there were plans to create revenue sources for 205 Live, including live events, licensing and merchandising. Until now, nothing had moved forward, officially, in terms of those plans and the Cruiserweights continued to work TV tapings.

In 2018, we will start to see those plans rolled out and how the brand will fare when it goes on the road and whether that leads to additional merchandising for the brand and its performers.

    Two things....
    1. who the ? cares to go out their way to see a 205 Live event???
    2. this means more future big name NXT guys will be thrown into that group just to increase ticket sales and in the long run ruining their debut steam since most big indie names are usually smaller then most wrestlers before them.

imo if they want to save 205 they need to combine/treat like NXT
this a step in the right direction because only really ? fans will be checking for a 205 live show. the same ? fans that live & die with NXT

but alot NXT talent could be caught up being pigeonholed as cruiserweights
its why neville & ares bounced

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that Vince McMahon is a big proponent of Matt Hardy’s “Woken” character, which made its debut this past Monday on RAW. It was noted by one source who told Barrasso that McMahon is such a believer in Hardy’s passion for the character that Hardy will be allowed a creative license over it, with McMahon seeing opportunity in the already established character.

It should be noted that the WWE Chairman does not view Hardy as a top star.

Ed Nordholm, President of Anthem Wrestling which owns Impact Wrestling, still controls the rights to the “Broken Universe” which Matt created despite the fact that the Hardys believe they have ownership of it.

There’s still a chance that Hardy will eventually work out a deal with Anthem for the rights to the “Broken” character, though the two sides are not currently talking. It was also noted that Jeff Jarrett viewed Matt Hardy as more of a background act during their time with Impact, and felt Jeff Hardy was the real star of the Hardys.

With all of that said, it was noted that those factors are motivating Matt to prove that he can be a top star at the WWE level.

Ronda Rousey Rumors: UFC Star 'Finalizing Details' to Sign WWE Contract
    JOSEPH ZUCKER
    DECEMBER 6, 2017

Mixed martial arts star Ronda Rousey may be nearing an agreement to finalize her long-awaited move to WWE, USA Today's Martin Rogers reported Wednesday.
Rousey hasn't officially retired from MMA but hasn't fought since losing to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016. UFC President Dana White cast major doubt on Rousey's future in the company last month, when he told reporters he "wouldn't want to see" her fight in the UFC again.
A transition to professional wrestling wouldn't be surprising for Rousey. She made a one-off appearance at WrestleMania 31 in 2015 to confront Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, and many around WWE have openly discussed the possibility since then.

The timing of Rousey's arrival would make sense were she to officially arrive in the next few weeks. WrestleMania season is right around the corner, and there's no question WWE would want to have Rousey's debut coincide with one of the company's biggest shows of the year.

If WWE didn't want to wait until WrestleMania 34 on April 8, then Rousey could appear at the 2018 Royal Rumble on Jan. 28 at the Wells Fargo Center. She could be involved in a non-wrestling segment that sets up her WrestleMania storyline, or she could even be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match, since the event always features a few shocks.
Rousey's move to WWE feels inevitable, and it was just a matter of the two parties finally coming together to work out a deal. Based on Rogers' report, the saga may be reaching its conclusion.
