What up fellas? I know this battle has taken a minute to get under way, but things have been hectic as ? for me the last few days
This is how it's gonna work out. Each producer has until Friday @ 5:00 PST to check in and post their beat for Round 1, in this thread, to be judged by your peers, AND the panel of judges I have selected. The winner of Round 1 is awarded 1 point.
And if ya'll need a memory refreshment for the rules for Round 1:
Today's style of beat will be Classical Rap (basically a fusion of Classical Music and Hip-Hop). Here's an example of that style of beat. Here's a more recent example of that style of beat.....
Round 2 will begin, in this thread, on Sunday afternoon.

Souf beat each, the best beat, both sonically AND thematically, wins the Round. So if you ain't versatile, or at least have beats of different styles I suggest you pull out now. For each round I'll give you a day to submit that beat and I'll PM you a reminder of the deadline. So if you ain't already got a hot beat that fits the style that I ask for, make one nagga!

-

-
-
tony s. -- i expected way more just because of the intro but that junt kinda sleepy bruh, still dope though.
scotty b. -- junt was aight, but the breakdown and overall energy put you over the top. -
tony send me that sample por fa vor
-
no doubt bro, i'll work on that, good looks.
-
im gone win, just off swag alone

Tony, that beginning was ? incredible but the beat kinda failed to live up to the standard I'm used to from you. Even with that said that beat is still better than about 85-90% of the beats that I come across in here.
I'm gonna drop the Round 2 acapella tomorrow. Gotta find some heat for ya'll to remix. -
-
scotty b. - "Cannon" - this was decent. I Didn't like the break down at 1:16 bc it threw me off. but I did appreciate the transition at 1:38. The snare is crazy BTW. I like the hat/spash you used the kick the drums in.
tony s. - "Exodus" - Yo, that intro was crazy. That's how you start it off! I'm not sure about that hat you used to introduce your drums. It's not mixing to me. IDK what you were trying to do here. It's like soon as I got a flow going, you slowed the drums again. I would rather the beat be consistent for the verses and choppy for the choruses.
Based on this round, I will determine my vote as follows:
Intro - tony s.
Outro - tony s.
Breaks/Change-Ups/Different Mixes - scotty b.
Drums - scotty b
If I could vote a tie, I would but if I had to pick someone, I would pick scotty b. tony s. started off HARD. I was really feeling it. But once the beat started, there were no changes, no consistency, no outro, so I felt dissapointed. scotty b played it cool and didn't do anything really exciting like tony s's intro but did enough to edge out a vote.
Vote - scotty b -
Good ? fellas. Round 2 will begin shortly. I'm uploading the acapella to zshare right now.

While the judges/other competitors chime in on the victor of Round 1..........Tha Killa wrote:Round 2 will consist of me giving each of you a modern Hip-Hop/R&B song's acapella track to remix and whoever constructs a better beat than both their opponent AND/OR the original producer, wins the Round
Round 2 begins with both producers remixing THIS song to the best of their ability. And whoever wins this Round will be awarded 2 points.
Make it count! I expect your submissions by Thursday evening. Let's say 5:00 P.M. PST? After both competitors drop their beats for Round 3 I'll make a thread in The Reason and G&S to encourage people to vote so that Semis and the Finals don't take as long as the prelims did. -
