Batman 3 Has A Title
And you can cross off the Riddler
Big news from the Batman camp in today’s L.A. Times: Christopher Nolan has revealed the name of the third film in his Gotham City trilogy. In July 2012, we’ll be queuing for The Dark Knight Rises.
Not only that, but in something of a bombshell, Nolan went on to dispell what many had begun to assume to be a given – “It won’t be the Riddler,” reports L.A.T.’s blog Hero Complex. So easy to get ahead of yourself, isn't it? Of course, true to form, the director wouldn’t reveal who it would be.
What Nolan seemed most interested in imparting was that he’s convinced Warner Bros. to keep telling his story in 2D, and to continue down the path of hi-def IMAX sequences. And he’ll get no argument from us on the subject – if it ain't broke, etc.
The post contains one other potentially juicy, enigmatic Nolan quote: “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones.” From here, you can go down two schools of thought – 1) This is a straightforward, non-commital comment. 2) You can subscribe to the oft-chanted mantra that ‘in comic books, no-one is ever really dead’ – and we lost two big characters in The Dark Knight. But then again, of course, that doesn’t – to date – really wash with the realistic leanings of the first two films. What was that about getting ahead of ourselves? Pah! Tish! Etc.!

cool..........

Pleeeeease let it be Mr. Freeze.
They can do him really well I think. b/c he's a bad guy, but he's doing it to save his wife and get revenge on those that wronged him. -
Whatever it is i hope its good
-
Cool....I always thought the Riddler was a Poor Man's Joker...

He did however concede one tidbit: “It won’t be,” he said, “Mr. Freeze.”

I'm glad he didn't go down the obvious fanboy route in choosing The Riddler and I'm glad he's keeping it 2D as well (this 3D fad needs to end). They could've been a bit more imaginative with the film title but oh well, that's minor. Bring on 2012 -
i hope they bring back Ra's al Ghul
-
I think "Rise of The Dark Knight" would sound better
-
two Face is coming back......Harvey was "Gotham's White Knight"
Unless its just a play on words.. at the end of TDK batman is wanted for killing the people 2face killed...so this movie he's vindicated?? i dunno
EDIT: I glad Nolan said ? THE 3D MOVEMENT -
"In comic books, no-one is ever really dead"
TWOFACE OR RA AL GHUL MIGHT COME BACK I SAY -

i want him to comeback. he is the ? -
Just give us a grimey ? villain...i would have loved to have seen the riddler but the only thing is (im not too up on the comics) but i assume the injection of riddler means the injection of humour, and well, im feeling these sinister batman films...makes them one of the only comic book films worth watching, i mean i know their was humour in the last batman film but the only time i remember laughing was ? i was like wow that was ? sick...e.g. the magic pencil trick.....i wanna see two face just off a hostage or sumthing. not a kim carrey-esque character prancing around the screen...in saying that i liked jim carrey as the riddler
oh and i definately ? with Nolans stance on anti-3D...more people need to be willing to take bold steps and try to make money based off talent and skillas opposed to gimmicks -
no 3D??? THANK YOU!!!

Since there won't be any Riddler in the next movie I'd be interested in seeing who Nolan has in mind for the villain(s). Black Mask seems like an option that would work based on the tone that Nolan has put in the last two movies.

Watching TDK movie now, I’m still surprised how Ledger did not receive an Oscar.

lol my fault. I’ve been out the loop for a minute. -
has Hush got any supernatural powers or anything?
-
2012 seems far off... for real
-
Perhaps Penguin or Bain would be dope
-
glad it wont be 3d

Thanks for the no 3D, the whole thing is ? now. Star Wars (whole series) re-release in all 3D and Indiana Jones (all series) in all 3D.
Thanks for not ruining Batman!
I would like to see Killer Croc, Grundy or Arnold Wesker & "Scarface". Just out of the box type ? , but it would be sick to see Two-Face make it back and be with Black Mask or something. -
read an article stating Tom Hardy was supposedly casted to play det. Harvey Bullock, but it may be just gossip

I hope it's not Killer Croc. The Joker is far and away my favorite Bat-villain, but I hope they don't attempt it. Heath Ledger's performance was off the chain, and I can't think of anyone who could follow that.
Given the tone of Nolan's movies, Black Mask would work very well. -
not this again! wrote: »I hope it's not Killer Croc. The Joker is far and away my favorite Bat-villain, but I hope they don't attempt it. Heath Ledger's performance was off the chain, and I can't think of anyone who could follow that.

Thats because no one could...to me i think he was one of the best villians in a movie all-time. even better than Jack Nicholas' Joker. They seem to always have at least 2 villians in the movie so i would say Catwoman and Black Mask would be cool. Since they have a histroy anyway.
