The fan is not moving at all I shut my laptop down immediately. Does anyone know how much it would cost if I took it to geek squad for repairs?

What laptop is it?
If the fan won't even move, it probably needs a new motherboard.
Might as well get a new one. -
never go to geek squad.
... EVER...
Waaaaay too many incidents of them cheating customers by overcharging for work or charging for unnecessary work plus they have this annoying tendency to browse through the contents of your hard drive.
what kind of laptop is it and when did you buy it? -

highly incorrect. The hs/fan may simply be shot. This happens a lot with laptops. Might just need a replacement fan. -

she clearly stated the fan is not moving and she shut it down herself. That is not indicative of a fall or motherboard failure.

You can chat with them as well
So you got a HP/Dell hybrid huh? -
fiat_money wrote: »You sure? That's a Dell, not a HP. A new fan for that would only cost ~$25, if the warranty doesn't cover it.
So how much do u thnk it would cost to have it replaced all together? -

Inspiron 1564 = Dell, not HP.
look underneath it and post up the service tag number. I'll tell you what your warranty length is (you could also look this up at Dell's site too). -

Even if you dropped it, tell them the fan stopped working on its own, while just sitting on your desk or some ? . -

Yea computers arent my thing lol -
Call Dell. You still have 292 days left on your Rapid Response coverage. IIRC, they'll send you an overnight shipper, you use that to send the laptop to them, they fix it, then overnight it back to you.

Thanks you! -
If it's a Dell, you can check your service tag on their support site to see how many days you got left in your warranty and what type of warranty you have. If it's shutting down immediately, replacing that fan may or may not work because you gotta then worry about if that processor got fried somehow by the overheating and that fan failing. It would be best to just go ahead and have the whole M/B replaced and with a new fan installed by calling Dell and getting it serviced. You can PM me the service tag since I do work for Dell myself.
