Why is the Intercontinental Title a useless title now?

This once prestigious title is now virtually gone. It hasn't been defended at mania in years and its a shame. This title used to main event ppvs (Bret vs Bulldog SS92, which was an amazing match btw) and now it just seems like they wanna phase it out....

Yeah, the whole show is dumbed down. in the old days, there were 3 or 4 story lines going on at the same time. Now all things revolve around the wwe championship belt. The last credible intercontinental champion that had legit challengers was probably van dam back in 03. Since then only a hand full of wrestlers have gone on to win the wwe title, in the old days (80's, 90's and early 00s) it was a manditory stepping stone.

It is a shame!! there are countless classic IC Belt matches... to not continue the legacy of the belt diminishes the legacy of those who helded build it.

only way the title gets its prestige back is if they drop one of the two big belts and the us belt

Cuz all the brands will become one like the old days the IC title will be united with the US title and at this coming WM or the next one the World titles will be united, and a new one will replace the spinner one eventually...

wwf championship (no spinner plz),wwf intercontinental championship,wwf tag championship like the old days and if the want to bring back one of them lesser championship for the bottom of the card they can bring back one of the lesser championships out of the ? , lightweight/cruiserwieght or european championship.
The lesser amount of belt the more prestige a belt has -
