It's not as appreciated as it should be. I didn't even know of it till a few years ago -- well after its 1999 release. -

Midwest and East were producing the best black music in the 90's.
And the best releases of the 00's have come from the mid-west too. -
the home base of hip hop was located in the south during the late 90's early 2000s breh... and lets not forget about R&B titans like monica, jagged egdge and usher and what j.dupri did

The south may have been located in the south, but that doesn't disregard the fact that when it came to quality music, it was the Midwest and East that were producing the best work. Also DMX, Jay-Z, Eminem, Ja-Rule, were just as big as any acts from the south in the late to early 90's. -
I can give the south there props but that doest take away from what other regions did and who came out of them...people act like it u say the south had a huge impact on music that somehow discredits NY or LA it doesnt and Outkast, UGK, 2live crew, Nolimit, cash money Def jam south were huge whether u like them or not...

SMH I love how people try to ? on the South like other regions were dropping masterpieces. Yea the South has a lot of garbage but those other regions do too. Like it has already been mentioned just because someone gives the South props doesn't mean its trying to discredit other regions. The South pretty much carried mainstream hip hop and R&B in the time period from the mid to late 90s probably until about the mid 2000s when the East and the West weren't really doing as much. -
this is my jam!!!!
i love beautiful R&B music. not that stuff where they are talkin' about havin' sex. -
that whole album knocks. Donell Jones is so underrated.
