I'm tryin to get online for PS3

I'm trying to dump ? in the Madden and Modern Warfare 2 but I got a old PS3 an original jont, and a regular Motorla surfboard cable modem...Can somebody school a brother on how I can get hooked in?

    Plug in a ethernet cable and pick automatic for everything
