Coming up, that's all we were allowed in the house.
I moved onto 'secular' music as I got older, but I still enjoy gospel and some Contemporary Christian music at times.
I credit Bebe and Cece Winans for my love of RnB music.
Share some songs you like, past or present.
Grace by Bebe and Cece has been on my top ten for awhile now..LOVE the song and love the way they sing it.

On Sundays back in the 80's that was the ONLY option. I spent the better part of my youth coming up on the rough side of the mountain. Now days, no.

Maybe it's not religious but it's the first I thought of, and it definitly is a gospelsong of sorts:
ALL the big R&B singers at the time on the same song wikipediad it, these are all singing on it they called themselves BLACK MEN UNITED it was on the JASON'S LYRIC soundtrack which was like ROMEO & JULIET IN THE HOOD:
Aaron Hall

Al B. Sure!
Boyz II Men
Brian McKnight
Christopher Williams
D'Angelo (songwriter)
Damion Hall
El DeBarge
Gerald LeVert
H-Town
Intro
Joe
Keith Sweat
Lenny Kravitz (guitar)
Lil' Joe
D.R.S.[citation needed]? Rotten Scoundrels
Portrait
R. Kelly
Silk
Sovory
Stokley Williams lead singer of Mint Condition
Tevin Campbell
Tony! Toni! Toné! (Raphael Saadiq on guitar)
Usher
I love it, it's one of those songs that I listen to when I'm down to get my spirits up -
We went to a small church when I was a kid and my pastor was Italian. They didnt play gospel music. I didnt really like gospel until I met my husband and when Kirk Franklin was popular in the late 90s. Still not a huge fan of gospel but these are my favorite songs:
Kirk Franklin - My Life Is In His Hands, First Love, Imagine Me, Melodies From Heaven
Marvin Sapp - Never Would Have Made It
Tonex - Lord Make Me Over -
? religious music. People who listen to that, only listen to that and claim secular music is for the devil. My moms be listening to that ? and when i check her i be hearing ? that is obviously religious versions of so called devil music they not supposed to even know about.

Troy Ramey is forever embedded in my eardrums
I do like this however.

Eh...kinda sorta. I only like upbeat gospel music that doesn't really sound like gospel music...until you listen to the words lol.
Like, "Smile", "(Shackles) Praise Him", and "? in Me" -

Oh right... Creed is alot about Jesus and but it's not so over the top "praise the Jesus" that it gets annoying I like alot of theirs:
