We all know the US has the highest prison population in the world. Articles like this help us to see why; it's profitable.
The Corrections Corporation of America and G4S (formerly Wackenhut), two prison privatizers, sell inmate labor at subminimum wages to Fortune 500 corporations like Chevron, Bank of America, AT&T, and IBM.

These companies can, in most states, lease factories in prisons or prisoners to work on the outside. All told, nearly a million prisoners are now making office furniture, working in call centers, fabricating body armor, taking hotel reservations, working in slaughterhouses, or manufacturing textiles, shoes, and clothing, while getting paid somewhere between 93 cents and $4.73 per day.

Democrats and Republicans need new slaves to support their corporate interests. Sadly this is nothing new, and will only increase. The govt for all intents and purposes is a borderline enemy of the American people at this point.

If Black people make an exodus from America then we significantly decrease the ability of these cave ? to take us as their slaves. I understand folks can't just up and leave but the thought should be in the mind.

We're still slaves because we are still comfortable in this slavemasters house talking about how we struggling for our rights. We have been struggling since the 18th century for our rights. When are we the collective minds of Black folks gonna realize that we need to reexamine our approach?

What common sense does it make for the descendants of our oppressors to treat us, the descendants of slaves with any more regard than they did? Why are we shocked at the level of brutality and hypocrisy of something like the PIC? What exactly are we expecting from white people because what a lot of these discussions, forums, and lectures hinge on, some unstated expectation that europeans will acknowledge that what they've been doing is unfair and things need to change. It's 2012, if there needs to be a convention to show the brutality of police, the inequality of the justice system, the inequality in education, healthcare, food..then what the ? ?

We're still talking the same talk from 100 years ago. We are having the same arguments, and then we debate white folks and house ? on the matter. It's not a debate, a debate implies two or more opposing sides with different degrees of validity. These white folks have no side nor these house ? because their ? is lies on top of lies on top of lies. As Africans trapped 5000 miles behind enemy lines we need to more than embrace these truths we need to conform our lives to them to who we are and live by it. That's the revolution. Change the process of thinking then action is not only inevitable but unstoppable.

Funny thing that you niccas left out is that the inmates agree to the labor...

that, my friends, does not constitute as "slavery"

WOW! ALL of that & NO mention of black-on-black crime....blacks killing each other goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on - & all you wanna talk about is what white people are doing - most white people are so damn frightened by you and yours...all you gotta do is look at them they start to cry....so who's got the image problem? U Afrocentric nut cases need to go back to your roots/Africa and allow the civil black folks who truly appreciate what this country affords them to prosper. U radicals need to go-AWAY.
