idk they seemed more laid back than tlc.
-
i think one of them total bishes is dead.
-
Total made some hits but not like tlc
-
TLC > Total.....
-
Total had it... I dunno what the hell happened to them...
.................................... -
i think one of them total bishes is dead.
And I disagree with the OP. I'm a huge fan of both TLC and Total (my two favorite female R&B groups of all-time) and not only do they sound nothing alike, but they put out completely different music. TLC usually had a message in their music and were pretty out there in terms of style, creativity and what not. They started a few trends and slang. They were also very much about female empowerment.
Total were more, like someone else said earlier, "laid back". They just put out music you can chill/bump your head to. -

Total is nothing like TLC, and even though I love them, they couldn't really sing lol. Keisha had a voice though (and she was THICK), the other 2...ehhhh.
-
i also thought Total's lead singer voice was very similar o T-Boz. i dont think that the group was a rip off tho because TLC had a rapper, were creative, better dancers/singers, etc. Even tho Total is one of the best R&B groups of the 90s. loved that era of R&B!

Total were less talented version of SWV. They rode hip-hop beats and sang nasty songs. I love their first album. TLC were levels above them, both in terms of talent and creativity.
-
You're confusing them with 702.

I agree with the direction you were going with this.I think the threadstarter was watching youtube came across their videos and was like "Diddy just wanted a TLC" which really around that time there were lots of girl groups both trios and quartets all with there own styles
And i beg to differ with anyone who thinks the women in Total could not sing. They all had good voices....nobody was Destiny Childing it in that time -
wow i totally disagree, i think that their music had completely different styles, and
TLC>>>>>>TOTAL
but i've enjoyed some of total's songs too. -
i dont think they were a knockoff, i think total had more of a "real" edge to them. kind of like mary j blige at the beginning of her career.
that being said, i love both groups but total >>> tlc imo -
Neither group could actually sing that good
-

..........

total had some cool singles here and there, but lets be real..... them hoes could not sing a lick. tlc wasn't good vocally either.
i will say though that they did have different styles. tlc was a little more funkier than total. total was kinda laid compared to tlc.
swv >>> tlc
xscape >>> total
