The same reason I smell ? before I eat it.
-
smell is directly related to taste
-
i do the same thing to ?
-
who sniffs thier food before they eat it ?
I don't even think I've done that before -
smell is directly related to taste
I do, and this is why.
I can tell if there is something wrong with the food if I smell it first.
If I'm trying something new, the majority of the time I can tell whether I will like it or not by smelling it.
Smelling is a powerful sense, use it.
Also, if the food smells good, why not smell it? -
Americans have no attachment to their food.
-
Smell is an integral part of taste and general acceptance of the dish before you put it in your mouth.
If it doesn't smell right, I'm not eating it. -
My lil cousins do this all the time, very annoying and rude! I could possibly understand about relating the smell to taste but unless that ? smells like ? people will eat it. If u have to call in to question the food ur eating, dont eat that ? .
-
it's rude plus cant you already smell it? . like..don't put your nose over somebody's food like a dog and then decide you don't want it. ain't nobody eatin that ? NOW. either you eat it or go hungry
-
Food always taste better if you smell it first. Unless you're eating chitlins, or something else with a foul smell.

I smell it and if i'm at a restaurant I rearrange it too...
I expect my meal to be presentable and desirable.... -
Was always taught that was rude.... so i dont do it.
What i will do is ask whats in it and then make my determination that way -

i dont smell it like put it to my nose, but if the smell coming from it doesnt smell right i wont eat it.
but i will look at it real good if i didnt prepare it.
also i hate for the different things to touch so ive been known to ask for at least one side to be put on a seperate plate to free up space on the main plate.

Good chefs dont taste their food. They smell and it can tell you what it needs -
