Former Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook will retire as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Tuesday.
Westbrook spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, finishing his career with the Eagles in 2009 as the franchise leader with 9,875 total yards from scrimmage.
The Eagles will honor Westbrook at Lincoln Financial Field on Dec. 23 during halftime against the Washington Redskins.
Known for his speed and pass-catching ability, Westbrook is one of six players in league history to amass 30-plus rushing (41) and receiving (30) touchdowns in his career. The two-time Pro Bowler last played with the San Francisco 49ers during the 2010 season.
Westbrook, a second-round pick out of Villanova, enjoyed his best season in 2007, when he led the NFL with 2,104 yards from scrimmage.

Salute to Westbrook.
He was more than a RB. He was the offense at times.
most years he was top 3,if not #1 in receiving td's,catches, or receiving yardage
May him and Brian Dawkins get the proper sendoff they deserve

Lol I know. I never pass up a chance to talk ? to rival teams.
Westbrook has my respect. Never shoulda left Philly tbh. -
Yeah he irrelevant now, don't see the need for this. But Westbrook was a beast. I thought he was the most dangerous player in the NFL for a minute ... kinda poor man's Marshall Faulk.
-
i forgot all about this guy. same thing when i heard clinton portis retired. seems like they haven't been around in forever.

Always felt he was underrated in his prime. *shrug*

damn
clinton portis retired
willis mcgahee still playing, i would think that he would go out before clinton
-
hmmmm,
im glad it was jus him moving on from the game and not being forced out by injuries
Following his release, Portis felt that passion had been missing from the team since Gibbs retired, saying, "I never seen nobody give up or with their head down with Coach Gibbs. As many close games as we played...you can't say one time that we gave up. There was a passion and toughness amongst everybody on that field to fight until time expired." -
