Creative director of Assassin's Creed 3, Alex Hutchinson, has accused game journalists of "subtle racism" thanks to the way they treat Japanese games.

Not because journalists constantly rip them apart because they're Japanese, but apparently because they enjoy them. Hutchinson, on the other hand, does not.

He recently told computerandvideogames.com, "I think there's a subtle racism in the business, especially on the journalists' side, where Japanese developers are forgiven for doing what they do. I think it's condescending to do this. Just think about how many Japanese games are released where their stories are literally gibberish. Literally gibberish. There's no way you could write it with a straight face, and the journalists say 'oh it is brilliant.' Then Gears of War comes out and apparently it's the worst written narrative in a game ever. I'll take Gears of War over Bayonetta any time. It's patronising to say, 'oh those Japanese stories, they don't really mean what they're doing.'"

I'll grant him that some Japanese games are a little on the weird side, but you can't expect everything they do to be like Gears of War. After all, they're coming from a completely different culture, and is a more closed market, refelective of it's own culture. So whatever does make it out, it's garunteed it'll be different thant Gears of War.

And while Japanese gamers may have made games the rest of the world sees as odd, we've made contributions like Shaq-Fu, so obviously we've all made mistakes.

In the end, developers, journalists, Japanse or American, we all have our own tastes

He's right about some Japanese games having stories that make no real sense.

Matter of fact that statement describes mostly every modern Square Enix RPG....

What the ? REALLY was Final Fantasy 13 about REALLY? It seem like they was making that ? up as they went along. That ? was so dumb and convoluted it made you not wanna play the game to see what happens cause you didn't know what was going on to begin with.

His point is mute when his own ? stinks. Not one black character is present in the AC console series. The assassin theme itself borrows heavy from the muslim concept. Revelations has muslims all over it. But there ain't one PC or NPC of african descent looks like. No Moors or anything. Given the location, time, and theme of the game there should of been black characters somewhere.

But the "multicultural team of various beliefs" seemed to miss that mark. Now they want to point the finger at the japanese? FOH and go look in the mirror first.

what you said has absolutely nothing to do with what he was talking about.

He's basically saying Japanese developers can sometimes get away with ? while aspects of great american made games are criticized...Did you even READ the ? bruh?

? is true though. I remember that was the big point people held over Microsoft's head when the Xbox first dropped. "Japan hates it, so it sucks!" Glad someone with clout spoke on this fuckery.

To sum it up. The Cocoon Fal'cie wanted to bring their maker back into the world for some lame reason (they were lonely) and it do that, they figured if enough people were to die at once he would return. So they began manipulating the protagonist to get them to destroy cocoon, yeah, that's the main story of ff13 basically.

Dude wants to criticize journalist for preferring Japanese games. I get that. My point was him coming out the gate with stones, about racism of all things, when his own game has such slights in it. Eh, ? it.

    Are you sure about that?

She's the lead character. When was the last time you saw a Black woman (I know she's technically Creole, but BLACK IS BLACK) that had a LEADING role on a video game?

    Her mentor:

So did GTA: San Andreas. The leading characters in Starhawk and GTA weren't Black women. Supporting characters? Maybe. But they aren't leading characters.
