Alot of Grammy's winning artist and songs appeal to a large audience not just the Hip Hop crowd. Even though awards dont show your real talent , having Grammy award winner in from of your name is not a bad thing.

    tru dat

thats the PC way to look at it

but to be taken seriously an award has to has critical acclaim from those in that genre's community

jus like the best metal performance grammy goin to some dude that played the flute cuz it was a metal instrument

the metal community lashed out at the grammy committee and they been acting right ever since

so Hey Lover over If I RUled the World shoulda been the straw that broke the camel's back

I agree with the bolded statement, but the Grammy judges are people who actually play instruments and that can read and write music . Because Hip Hop as a whole is not a very musical genre, alot of winners are the artist that put more of what the judges consider a musical song or a song that appeals to the masses not just a pure Hip Hop song what the cure fans would consider great .

Not saying you're wrong but why should this have happened? They are both hiphop songs and they both have singing in the song at one point or another.

These were also maybe the most musical albums ever made in Hip Hop.

    lyrical style

nas' street poetry in his song vs LL's lovey dovey style in his song

who besides old white dudes and people in high heels would vote Hey Lover over IIRTH in 96'

so they should basically call it the "Hip Hop Song With They Most Organic Sounds" Award

i see that way also but Paris Tokyo seems like it would appeal to the judges more than A Millie would

But 2008 was Waynes year. Sometimes songs have to much impact to deny them an award. Dont get me wrong Grammy's are not the be all end all. Hell Wayne has more Grammy's than Marvin Gaye.
