Part of the reason they didn't was cause they chased the pop money. Pop money moves singles get your radio play and keeps you popular....but it doesn't make you legendary.
Why did confessions sell to all demographics and out of ? in R&B the best overall project sales and reception wise between ne-yo breezy etc?
It was cause Usher was going through a breakup with a mega star and made the most of the moment. ? thought after confessions he had a baby on the way...again he played the game with the tabloids and trolled them. He had party hits that were no techno just party like yeah. And he had ? he could take across the world but was still R&B.
? got side tracked by the pop money that they didn't develop the R&B they were doin that was selling albums better and seperated them from the pack. ? like pitbull and hoe rida need pop for they career R&B ? like usher and chris don't they can have a career without being teechno ass ? . -
? really surprised One of the MTV babies going plat in a week? Brittney, Em, and JT guranteed doing numbers due to their contribution to TRL

Take dis ? to da Pop board!
if that's the case have the rappers we talk about should be in the pop board. Justin R&B songs got more soul than futures transformers autobot off key autotune lets be honest.
-
jay wasnt even needed on the song in the first place.

Bruh the millions
(and Millions) or braced faced, and nappy headed biracial lil girls who were raised by single white women have grown up. They still supporting JT. Being a staple on TRL has Long lasting benefits. Word to Brittney not doing anything good musically good in years and not fading away. 106 is a knockoff of TRL and will never hole the weight TRL did. Im convinced if u were a mainstay your career got a automatic pass. -

It has nothing to do with TRL....90% of the bands from TRL are dead. Ask (insert 90s band here) if TRL still works for them. Blink 182 sold less than J cole when the both dropped the same week. Backstreet boys as ? had a new album few years back that ? wasn't moving ? . It has nothing to do with TRL. Any ? from that era of popularity has had to fight for sales from fans. -
Celebrate and circle ? in this thread all you Jigga warriors want to. I'm glad you guys are not playing the race card now that it works in Jay Z favor. I'm going to bookmark this thread because I don't want to hear no ? when Eminem and Lady Gaga both push a million in a week later this year. Gaga does not even have a title for her album and pre orders are already at 2 million shipped. Eminem sold a million in one week twice. A feat that Jay Z or Justin Timberlake haven't and never will do. Eminem got 2 diamond albums and 2 more at the 8.5 million mark close to diamond. Jay Z highest selling album is half that amount. Recovery sold 8 million. Watch the homos sputtered out at 1.2 million.

Jay Z stay winning.in no time it will go platinum
-
the album is pretty dope...Timbo did a great job producing
-
Jay lost because Justin's album sold what his whole album sold in his first week, therefore he will be opening for Justin this summer. I would think by the time you're 52 years old you should be headlining your own shows.
Jay also lost because he needs to ride everyone else's wave to be hot. Last time he did his own thing with American Gangster it was one of his least successful albums. -
T/S is a name-dropping ?
-
Second half of 'Strawberry Bubblegum' . . Dope
'Don't Hold The Wall' .. Tribute to 'Off The Wall'? Love the song anyway
Timbaland & J Roc served up a masterclass in fusing Pop with RnB. .

Do you realize the Backstreet Boys still sell out world tours til this day? They don't need "new" album to generate fan interest. They got fans who still are willing to pay out the ass to go see them anywhere in the world. So yeah being a staple on TRL and having your fans literally grow up with you, as Justin Timberlake's fans have done, has long term benefits if you know how to use them right. -

Going by what wikipedia says, Britney's last album sold 276k in the first week, the one before that sold 505k in the first week, and the one before that sold 124k in the first week, in 2007! compare that for a second, 124,000 in 2007 to 980,000 in 2013.
Britney ain't in the same league. -
I think Timberlake and his people did good promo for the album though mostly through award ceremonies . .
This album sold more in its first week than Future Sex ... plus the music on this album sounds grown and the production is almost near flawless if that counts

.. Music sales I think

No it still matters because his fans grew up with him. Majority of the females who had a crush on him when he was 17 still like him now...only real difference is he now has the respect of people as a serious musician and not just the front man of a boy band and has male fans now too. Future Sex gave him that, even Justified, not taking away from the album is was good, was seen somewhat as riding his post Nsync success.
