"The saga begins, my eyes is the photography lens
Properly push pens, and show quality gems
The horrors be grim, but yo maybe tomorrow we win
If we follow the trends and keep count of the dollars we spend
I want a mahogany Benz, I want lottery ends
I want property, friends, plus my hobby is skins
If I decide we in sin, then my prophesy ends
But the ? 'll begin, watchin my odyssey spin
in the place where war be, based on a true story
Territory was made for me to pursue glory
Blast alone masses in zones have to be sown
Every capacity blown, I'm internationally known....."

Rakim is one of the illest rappers ever. if not THE illest. While the album is good it does have some boring spots in it that i cant give that certified classic spot. same with The Master. album does have some GOAT songs tho.
-
The strong island track is my favorite off the album
-
dope album... but does it standup to the classics of '97?
we need a new Rakim album... -
Album was underwhelming. Maybe my expectations were too high being that it is Rakim. That's just my opinion though.
-
Much respect to Ra, I wasn't really feeling his solo joints though as a whole.
It sounded kinda dated for a 1997 album but its still pretty good, almost unfair to put it up against his material with Eric B. -
Appreciated...released in the year of born ? .

SwEET GOOD FRIDAY!! THAT IS AN ASS^^
-
That ”it's been a long time” (Suave House remix) track was the ? on this album
-
RAKIM ALLAH!

Thank you bruh. I was reading these posts like huh?!? Classic? The ? ? -
classic album.
the only negative thing i could say about the album is that there is way too many skits. one skit after each track was overboard. -
-
This album had classic mid 90's sound. Somewhat different from anything recorded with Eric B. It was great solo debut.
-
I remember back then heads felt that album was kinda underwhelming like others have stated in here. It had some dope cuts here and there but as a whole the album was a letdown.
-
Album was dope remember playing this when it came out.
-
Nah this album was much better than The Master. It actually felt like the old R coming back finding inventive ways to slay a rhyme with no cussing. As opposed to posturing like a tough guy on the album after this one and forcing himself to curse up a storm. Remember That and The Saga Begins are still my jams.
-
I always thought this album was pretty dope despite the fact that some people were let down by it.
-
Ra is THEE standard of what every SERIOUS emcee should be,
but that is not a got damn classic -
Follow procedures
The crowd couldn't wait to see this
Nobody been this long awaited since Jesus...
Rakim still top the ? Emcee...
