His placement of singles sucked
-
Very good album but no hit singles to capture the casual listener.
-
Cherry wine and Bye baby would have been great singles. Instead ....they choose daughters. Smh.
-
How many is gold in U.S.A?
-
Not to hurt feelings, but it garnered next to no interest outside the internet and ? fans. Internet hype means nothing next to the stuff popular in the everyday world. That said, he has his place and there's nothing wrong with that.
-
Some of his fan base did move on. The last few albums he had a gimmick so even when he lost fans he picked up a causal listener.
-
Cuz Nas lost.
Seriously, everything that was said already. Remember, he did like 150k the first week or some ? . That's the core Nas fans coming out. After that, the promotion stopped and no other singles dropped. Cherry Wine could've easily pushed it to gold. -
Because Life is bad
-
Because he doesn't know how to promote an album, and when you choose a trash song like The Don as a single, you're never going to sell a lot. That ? might have been his worst single of all time, even worse than Nastradamus. His singles over the last 7 years have gone downhill. Before he'd release good ? like Got Yourself A Gun, Made You Look, Get Down..... now ? like Hero, Make The World Go Round, Hip Hop Is Dead and the Don is just garbage. For years he's been choosing wack beats and that's another reason why most heads didnt really care any more. The beats on LIG were better but by then it had been too late.

He did put out Cherry Wine as a single! He should sent "Summer on Smash" to radio as a single though!! HE coulda left Accident Murderers on the album.

So the album didnt go Gold because his singles pick?
-
Why does it matter how many units he moved? The Album is cold from top to bottom.
-
Yea, really didnt have that hit, but ? almost 20 years after a debut to still be making noise is saying something....dope album nonetheless....,,
-

It didn't get the push it was supposed to tho. I myself just found out it was a single. I heard Daughters (which is a great single for those saying he can't pick singles, and the reason he did that big first week number) on the radio more than this joint. Like I said, after it dropped, the promotion just died.
