It's a very good album but nobody was calling it a classic until Jay Z went on a crusade to convince cats it was a was a classic. When I played this album in my whip I had to adjust the base and treble several times due to the unevenness of many of the tracks. There are a few standout songs but the rest was ehhhhhhh.
Illmatic just shyts over this album and Jay Z has far better albums in his discography that are produced better, sound better and are more refreshing.
By the way, I'm not the biggest Jay fan but I do have a couple of his albums so, I know what time it is.

I been saying this for the longest
-
you could of fell asleep behind your wheel and endangered innocent pedestrians in the road by playing that anesthesia music. reasonable doubt is boring as ?
-
The fact that I Can Still bump RD all the way through no skips almost 20 years latermakes it a classic to me. But Idk maybe my views of a classic album are offsince alotta y'all think GKMC is a classic already.
-
Classic or not.. your opinion dont matter
-
Classic is relative to the listener imo
-
? is a classic and easily his best album. Rides all the way through, great variety, great production. So illmatic is better than rd? Word? RD really must be ? if the greatest album of all time is better
-
Art holding up over time and influencing = classic, not immediate feedback. It's a lot of albums that got 5 mics or deemed classic that did not hold up too well imo compared to RD.
-
no one listened to that album round my way... Jay got no burn til Hard Knock Life....
-
Name one song on RD that's wack

Like what? I need a good laugh. And Lil Kim doesn't count, she sucked a ? for every mic she got. -
His opinion has reasonable doubt
-
Politics as usual was all i could ? wit when this came out. Suave House, Death Row, and hood mixtapes was what i was knockin in 95. Jay z ? was made for jeeps and jettas
-
Four to four and half mics not classic.
-
Hell On Earth > Reasonable Doubt..
-
Half the album was classic, the other skipable... Its the cornerstone to what became Bey-Z, so people bound to overate it
-
Uh oh...here we go....

Yes, it is.
You can the same thing for illmatic.
? , if RD ain't a classic, neither is illmatic.
K? -
^FOH with RD aint classic. Along with Blueprint, its the best thing he's got and it's damn replayable!
-
Once again.
You guys are playing "It wasn't bumping in my hood" fallacy.
In the spring of '94 in South Florida, ? was banging to Death Row, not illmatic.
What makes illmatic a classic if ? weren't bumping it?
BTW, I do think illmatic is a classic and the hip hop bible, mind you.
So, don't go there. -
Jay Z rapping over an Issac Hayes sample ? gives me chills woo I missed this jay
