Never say never in the world of sports entertainment.
Following a strained relationship with Vince McMahon and the WWE that dates back to 1996, The Ultimate Warrior has buried the hatchet and will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame prior to WrestleMania 30 this April in New Orleans.
“The Ultimate Warrior was the most intense, colorful, competitive and outspoken Superstar in sports entertainment history, and his contributions to WWE were extraordinary,” said WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon in a statement. “We are thrilled to induct The Ultimate Warrior into the WWE Hall of Fame.”
"Thrilled" is not a term wrestling fans expected McMahon to ever say following Warrior's untimely departure from the WWE during his last stint with the company. Best known for his electrifying entrance music, incoherent interviews and pinning Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI, Warrior was in the middle of a WWE return following a nearly four-year hiatus when his contract was reportedly terminated by McMahon after he failed to show up at live events.
There aren't many men that hold a grudge like McMahon and Warrior was nowhere to be found on WWE programming until the company released a DVD in 2005 titled "The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior."
Let's just say the DVD was less than flattering as WWE talent took turns mocking Warrior while working in clips throughout his wrestling career. Warrior was so upset about the project that he filed a lawsuit against the WWE, claiming the DVD project violated a March 2000 settlement agreement that stated both sides wouldn't disparage each other. An Arizona judge ruled that Warrior had breached his own agreement first for disparaging public comments about the WWE and the lawsuit was tossed out.
A resolution between both sides didn't seem possible until last summer when 2K Sports announced that Warrior would be a playable character in WWE 2K14 and featured him in an epic promotional commercial.
Now 54, Warrior will finally get his proper farewell from wrestling in front of what should be a sold-out crowd at the New Orleans Arena on April 5.
This marks the second year in a row the WWE has extended the olive branch to a former legend. Thanks to some great work by wrestler and WWE executive Triple H, the longest-reigning WWE champion of all-time, Bruno Sammartino, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. Not only did Sammartino and McMahon have their share of issues that needed to be ironed out, the 78-year-old was quite critical of the modern day wrestling product.
With Sammartino and Warrior now in, the late Randy "Macho Man" Savage continues to be the biggest glaring omission from the Hall of Fame. http://youtu.be/SdkOeMeCvpY

He's ONLY 54? Not saying he looks old but damn I feel like he can still give us ONE MORE match.
-
WWE has really been getting it together for the HOF the last few years.
-
personally i think he was one of the woats, but for what he meant and as big as he was back in the day, i guess he deserves it...
not more than macho man tho -
It's funny that all those people were calling him trash and the WOAT in that video but they putting him in the HOF

Human nature. Your boss and friends dont like him so you join the hatewagon. Once that calms down and you see it with no real bias, you give people what they deserve soley on impact and credentials. Its happens everywhere even on the IC. Get in where you fit in. -

I said the same she son only 54 thought he was older i that means he was in his early 30's when he beat Hogan always thought he was mid 30s and Hulk was hitting that 40 mark at that time guess that Bold head adds years.
but hell na Warrior done seen that match with that ? dude Orlando and son was winded running down to the ring and old age plus no roids son was looking tiny -
My dude Warrior
-
Really, he truly is one of the most overrated, but it's deserving because he was such an over the top guy.
-
I didn't really care about his in ring ablity when I was 7, that dude was the man

Warrior is definitely one of those guys that was cooler when you were young. I wasn't even a fan but I'm excited because WWE is really putting forth effort into the HOF and it's looking less political and more about who fans really like and want them to recognize.
Even though the more we learned about each instance it was the other party, not Vince, with the beef and holding up their own HOF induction it's still good they can put the differences aside for at least a short time.
The only political omission will probably be Chris Benoit and that's for obvious reasons. I hope they can rebuild ties with ECW legends like Raven and Shane Douglas too because those guys also deserve it. -

but dammit, that muhfukka had mojo.
UW pops>>>>>>>>HH pops
Ring psychology >>> technical in ring skills. It's what separates the stars from the greats. -
Ya think Hokogan gonna be the one who inducts him?
like the only one i really see besides Vince that can do it -
I'm excited about this ? . I used to swear up and down that ultimate warrior was the voice of mumm-ra from the thundercats. They had the same tone and I never knew what either one was talking about but it sounded cool.

His promos or if you can called them promos were wild talking about the Gods, outerspace, galaxies .

Yup the ? 80's
-
it seems Hogan will be the one to induct him
-
So that myth that the original ultimate warrior died in a car crash is false? I remember everyone thinking it wasn't the same guy when he came back
-
Jim hellwig did die in a car crash
He was reborn as WARRIOR
first name, last name -
-
what would be doper
Hogan inducting him
or
Sting inducting him
only two folks i can see doing it but u already know the whole Sting WWE ? -
I saw Warrior during his brief 96 run and i thought it was dope. Too bad he couldn't stick around longer. It would've been dope seeing him mixing it up with the new generation stars. Either way it's the right decision and it was long overdue.
