Former NFL Player Darren Sharper Part of Sexual Battery Investigation in Miami Beach: Police


Former NFL player Darren Sharper is part of a sexual battery investigation in Miami Beach, police said Wednesday.

The investigation of Sharper, 38, stems from a report filed last month, police said. The details of the investigation were unknown.

Sharper appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom just last week to face allegations that he drugged and ? at least two women he met at a nightclub.

Investigators said Sharper met two women at West Hollywood nightclub Bootsy Bellows on Oct. 30, 2013, and invited them to a party. On the way there, Sharper invited both women to his Los Angeles hotel room, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The women were offered a shot of alcohol and passed out, investigators said. One woman woke up hours later to Sharper allegedly sexually assaulting her. The second woman woke up and interrupted the assault, the motion states.

Sharper met two different women at the same West Hollywood nightclub on Jan. 14 and invited them to a party. Investigators said he invited them to his hotel room on the way to the party and offered them a drink. One woman believed she was sexually assaulted after passing out and waking up the next day.

Both women left the hotel and sought medical help, investigators said. In both instances, Sharper is suspected of drugging shots of alcohol with morphine and ambien.

Sharper has been charged with two counts of ? by use of drugs, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested Jan. 17 and released on $200,000 bail.

Sharper, who played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and the New Orelans Saints during a 14-year NFL career, is accused of drugging 11 women in four states, and ? seven of them.

It was also revealed Wednesday that Sharper was part of an investigation in Miami Beach in 2011 involving an incident with two women who were in town on spring break from Georgia.

According to the report, the women had fallen asleep at Sharper's condo and one of them woke up to find either Sharper or his brother, Jamie, behaving inappropriately and exposing himself.

The two women were taken to a ? treatment center but no evidence of sexual battery was found, so the case was closed.

NOPD issues arrest warrant for Darren Sharper in 2 aggravated rapes; second man also accused

New Orleans police on Thursday (Feb. 27) announced they have an arrest warrant for former Saints star Darren Sharper who is accused of ? two women at a Central Business District apartment last year. An acquaintance of Sharper also is facing charges in the rapes women said occurred the night of Sept. 23.

Sharper, 38, and Erik Nunez, 26, are both wanted on two counts of aggravated ? , said NOPD spokeswoman Remi Braden.

A conviction of aggravated ? in Louisiana carries a mandatory life sentence without benefit of parole.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible, police said. NOPD last year got the report of a ? and handed the case over to the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office for consultation. Sharper was not arrested at the time.

The news of the arrest warrant is the first major development in the New Orleans case, and it follows reports from several other cities that women have complained to police of being drugged and ? by Sharper.
Sharper was arrested in Los Angeles last month after two women reporting being drugged and assaulted on two different dates.
Nandi Campbell, a New Orleans attorney for Sharper, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

According to a police report, a woman met Sharper at a Sept. 22 event for Saints football players. After the event, she accompanied him to a bar. While there, Sharper gave the woman a drink, which she consumed. Her next memory came several hours later, at around 10 a.m. on Sept. 23, when she woke up to Sharper "on top of her sexually assaulting her," the report said.
