As we have seen, all those college teams that play certain styles of offense that put up ridiculous points because of the system their coach runs....but then they go to the NFL and cant do ? , i think that pretty much proves it. In every other sport you can get by with just havin a superstar or 2

yea of course, thats the same with College basketball....but for example, Calipari isnt an X's and O's coach, hes a motivator. He had a group of 1st round picks and they made a good run in the NCAA tournament, in College football Tim Tebow was the man, same thing with Jason White (Oklahoma QB) and he aint amount to ? just like alot of people think Tebow wont amount to ? . -
Pete Carroll at USC is prime proof of this. Aint no athlete he coached has had the success in the NFL that they were supposed to.

carson palmer, polamalu? -
carson palmer, polamalu?
Carson Palmer is semi-successful. He has yet to win in the playoffs. Polamalu is the one and only success story. but even troy is injury prone -
Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier are prime examples of this....
I honestly think the main reason college head coaches dont translate well to the professionals is because of the mindset of the players themselves.
In college its essentially just a bunch of kids playing ball so they are more of a mentor type figure. In the pros...you are the boss and you are dealing with grown ass men....so the interaction with the players is gonna be different....
IMO if you are a good X and O type guy that will translate cause football is still football regardless of the level its played on....but its the other aspects of coaching that change in each level that some cant handle. -

Coaching is key but the reason it is not like baskeball is the number of players on the team.
Key players in key places does make a difference. Remember that Saban lost to UAB at LSU his first year and ULM his first year at alabama.
Without a great player on your team you are not winning a national championship. BCS or no BCS! -

I like Mack, but it is easy to have a clean program and recuit great when you can pick and choose from 1000's that want to play for Texas. -
No. In every sport having better talent is better than having better coaches. In college football is it more evident that players>coaches because generally speaking the teams who get the best athletes Texas,Florida,Ohio State, etc... always have winning records, and usually contend for their conference championship. Even with terrible coaches teams that recruit great at least have winning records i.e. Ron Zook at Florida.
