Had a younger friend refer to the first as a classic....in which i responded do you mean like illmatic classic...
he replied yes because there is a whole generation pretty much grew up on these mixtapes for a time (even moreso than their albums) ...
i dont necessarily disagree with him either...all of the mixtapes below were huge when they came out only magnified by the fact that the rappers became stars after they were released (which is why pilot talk...which i like better than any of these...isnt listed).
that said, u think any of these are classics/have the potential to become classics?
Wiz Khalifa-Kush and Orange juice
Meek Mill-Dreamchasers 2
Kendrick Lamar-Section 80
Drake-So far gone/Comeback Season
Big KRIT-KRIT wuz here
J. Cole-Friday Night Lights

So far gone changed the mixtape game. If he calls it a classic I can accept it even though I never liked the tape.
The rest ain't classics to me. -

Wow!
These kids man -
I haven't listened to any of those.
-
So Far Gone is the only classic...the rest are really good mixtapes
-
also DC2
-
Cats still throwing around the word classic too easily. Classic is the new word for good. I've said everything I have to say on this in this thread.

Idk about any of those projects being certified classics but KRIT Was Here and Section 80 are close
-
I liked Wiz Khalifas "Flight School" the best..
-
I'd call gkmc a classing before section 80 but that's not a bad credit at all
So far gone and maybe Friday Night lights are classic mixtapes in my eyes. Wiz hasn't produced anything nearly as good as Kush and OJ and I'd be damned if I'm listening to meek's nappy braid struggle days of a mixtape in Dreamchasers -

All of those are debatable, so I can't call it. For me, So Far Gone and Section 80 deserves extra considerations since they spawned Platinum debuted albums.

You got Hella negative reactions in that thread too...
-
No classics, but a few good albums
-
Section 80 is classic too
-
Everything but krit and meek
-
So far gone and kush and oj because they spawned a new breed of rappers. They may be ass, but you can't deny the impact.
-
Kush n OJ is wiz's best mixtape/album but that doesn't make it a classic...I'd have to listen to it again to fully decide
Dreamchasers 2 - hell no
Everything else - possible -
Really good? Yea
Classic? Nah -
Friday night lights
