A teenager from Frisco, Texas is accused of murdering both of his parents late Monday night.

According to DallasNews.com, the 16-year-old was “very sheltered,” and was being homeschooled by parents who wished to shield him from the world.

The teenaged gunman was one of two school-age children left at home out of five. The deceased — Ryan Callans, 48, and Maria Elena Callans, 49 — had three other adult children.

Frisco Police Officer Chad LaPrelle told the Dallas Morning News that officers responded to a 911 call around 2:00 a.m. Monday reporting gunshots. Both Callens parents were dead of gunshot wounds when police reached the residence.

Their 16-year-old son was taken into custody. Police have declined to release the boy’s name because he is a minor. He is currently being held at the Collin County Juvenile Justice Center in McKinney on two counts of murder.

Jonathon Marcum, a 15-year-old friend of the accused killer, told the Morning News, “He was very sheltered. If he broke the guidelines, he got punished.”

The boy was not allowed to drink sodas or watch rated-R films. He was only allowed access to PG-13 films once a screening agency had edited out any violent or adult-themed scenes. He was only allowed access to the Internet under closely supervised conditions.

“His parents were really uptight on him,” added another friend named William Castillo.

Fox Dallas-Ft. Worth reported that the boy attended public elementary school, but that he was homeschooled after that.

Neighbor Natalie Benitez, 15, told the newspaper, “He’s, like, so against school. He’s, like, ‘I would never go back.’”

“It’s still a shock to us,” said Natalie’s mother, Edith Benitez, according to the Morning News’ Valerie Wigglesworth. “He was a really good kid

Sheltered kids who have little access to the reality of the outside world or their own little bubble are prone to have the types of mindset where they can do ? like this.

To be honest, this isn't really dissimilar to any of the other school shootings in middle America, only the isolation was more extreme. I've always had the theory that when you have a kid who lives his life in a 7 square mile patch of city between school, soccer practice, his friends houses, home and the mall, and there is little access or interest in anything outside of his bubble...that ? causes certain psychological issues.

Typical white ? but let's see how the media portray this kid and see what kind of disease or disorder he was challenged with. Homeschooled huh? And you know what you clown ass lame ass black men siding with the ? . But just a week ago a black kid stabbed a white kid in the park and the media said it was an elaborated plan. Y'all so ? white washed it's ridiculous. He killed his parents because that's what the ? he wanted to do point ? blank.

So when the kid from chicago killed his mother what kind of disorder or mental problem did they say he had? I'm through with you clowns.

Not anger, frustration. Ppl trying to take up for this kid and give him a psychological motive for killing his parents. You learn right from wrong, acceptable behavior at an early age. You also learn that if your in a situation where you don't feel comfortable being in it you get out, so he got out by killing his parents point blank. ? all that "too sheltered" ? , and all that other ? you talking about having a 7 mile radius of existence. Just open your eyes and see ppl are evil and ppl get fed up and every ? white murder isn't tied to some kind of mental disorder. That's why sir

What leads you to believe that my theory has anything to do with race? The thread you mentioned about the 12 year old who stabbed the kid has comments by me stating that the kid also has mental issues and needs treatment. So what exactly are you talking about? Help me understand.
