On the black carpet at the 2014 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards in Los Angeles on August 22nd, Hip-Hop Wired caught up with producers Mannie Fresh and Key Wane to ask them about their involvement in Lil Wayne‘s forthcoming album, Tha Carter V, due to drop on October 28th.
Mannie mentioned that him and Weezy are trying to recapture Tha Carter I sound on the fifth installment of his Tha Carter album series: “If you know Tha Carter I, then you know Mannie Fresh and we’re just trying to recapture that sound.”
Wane explained that he has heard some stuff from C5 and even though he does not know if his beats will make the final cut of the album, he will still listen to it as he is a big fan of Tune: “Regardless, Carter V, Carter VI, Carter VII – I’m going to listen to them whether I’m on it or not.”

shout out Key Wane, Detroit stand up

Carter 1 classic material, key wane dope too

Recreating that sound for a song or two? Or the whole album?
There's got to be mad chemistry between them two for that true Carter 1 sound. If that's what they want to accomplish, Mannie should be apart of everything going into CV. -
"If Birdman ain't cuttin a check, I ain't droppin a beat" - Mannie Fresh

So far I've only heard one decent song from the Carter 5. Grindin was okay but still not worthy of being a single. That "believe me" ? sounded like Drake's last 5 songs and I find it hard to believe this ? actually paid money for the beat to that "krazy" song.

Mannie confirmed he was doing more than 1 song a while ago
-
DJ Mustard just said he got 1 song on C5 too

Carter 2 >>>>>

C1>>>>> by far
C2 Wayne was trying to prove something. C1 was so natural -
I like what Mannie said about being afraid of the reception of the album
-
ill take C1 over C2 any day better material more of a natural album
-
mannie fresh still that ?

...I don't want to go on about this track 'krazy' again..but dear lord that song is ? terrible, I've actually listened to it at least 10 times just to laugh at it...I think they've altered waynes pitch for the video ? he was coming in sounding like an excited chipmunk. they know that ? is garbage.. they should remove it from the face of the earth.. just burn that nonsense lay that ? in a tomb in egypt waiting for the midday sun to hit a giant magnifying glass and incinerate that ? on some indiana jones and the temple of absolute garbage type ish
But yeah anyway, what I'm saying is that it does not bode well for this album, mannie fresh or not.
