Kendrick Lamar's short film based off his album "good kid, m.A.A.d city," is a part of the Museum of Contemporary Art's 2015 exhibition schedule.

Kendrick Lamar's debut album, despite being just over two years old, is well on its way to becoming certified classic rap material. The Compton native's story-telling and concept intertwining the entire project gave the album a vivid sense of reality. If the album itself, good kid, m.A.A.d city, wasn't vivid enough, Kendrick also debuted a short film "m.A.A.d" to tie in to the LP.

The short film, put together by Kahlil Joseph, debuted at Sundance's NEXT Fest this past summer. For those of us who didn't get to see it when it debuted at the film fest, Los Angeles' Museum of Contemporary Art has got you. They'll be airing the film for several months in 2015, giving the average person a chance to view it.

The film will be shown at MOCA from March 21st until July 21st 2015. MOCA described the film along with the announcement of their 2015 exhibition schedule,

"Kahlil Joseph’s double-screen projection m.A.A.d is a lush portrait of contemporary Los Angeles. From barbershops to marching bands, from homeboys drinking in the streets to the iconic carpet of shimmering lights, the camera in m.A.A.d sinuously glides through predominantly African American neighborhoods in Los Angeles catching a dizzying array of quotidian moments suffused with creativity, joy, and sadness. Joseph’s film is accompanied by a thick booming soundtrack provided by emerging hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar and indeed m.A.A.d is part of the title of Lamar’s highly acclaimed second album Good Kid m.A.A.d. City."

Who's planning on taking a trip to the museum to peep this?

Even though the album's two years old now, I still think this is a good idea the GOAT Jay Electronica came up with the idea first.
