If some student writes a legit criticism of a course does that prof actually get a stern talking to from the dean or is this ? pointless? What if they're just a grad student?

One bad evaluation will not result in a reprimand. Complaining directly to the department will result in a conversation.
if there is a pattern of bad evaluations, then there may be some action.
depends on the complaint also. -
depends on the school

I only wrote evals if I had negative things to say

I hope so lol

I complimented my English professor on her "grandmotherly swagger" on the eval sheet. Ours were anonymous so I tried to have fun w/ em.

ours was anonymous and i wrote your constant coughing, hacking and swallowing the spit is very disturbing

I'm filling mine out right now. I enjoy giving positive evaluations to professors that deserve them. I also enjoy having the chance to negatively critique professors that were ? throughout the semester.

IIRC she's a grad student now so she might be teaching

We have to complete course evals. They are usually worth like 10% of our final grade.

They are actually relevant... if you have legit concerns you should voice them
