If fans are holding out for the Back to the Future trilogy to get the remake treatment, they’re going to be sorely disappointed. Director Robert Zemeckis has vowed to block any attempts at remaking the 1980s sci-fi favorite for as long as he lives, and hopes his family will continue to do so after he’s gone.
“Oh, ? no,” Zemeckis told the Telegraph, when asked about the idea. “That can’t happen until both [co-writer Bob Gale] and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.
“I mean, to me, that’s outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’ What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”
Zemeckis and Gale’s contract with Universal and Amblin Entertainment gives them final say over greenlighting any future Back to the Future film project. Despite Zemeckis’ confidence in a remake’s potential success as a “pre-sold” movie aiming at the established fanbase, much like Jurassic World, he’s not interested.

I feel him on remaking a movie that was already good. If anything hollywood should remake the movies that had potential but bombed

How old is that guy......

Good. This is one classic I'm glad they not messing with. I'd hate to see back to the future featuring Justin Bieber or something

I respect it...but imagine them going to year 2045 n ? .

I think it's hard for Hollywood to find new ideas that producers want to invest in. A remake would attract newcomers along with people who are curious to see how they stayed true to the original.
