I have finally come to the realisation that the internet is now ? boring, and I expect nobody to agree with me.
Big business has squeezed out the small, independent start-ups; geek culture is getting wiped out by the mainstream; you used to create new friends due to shared interests, now you only speak to people you know or people you wish you didn't know. Even music and pornography has gotten stale. The internet used to be a hyperreal version of the wild west where anything goes and an alternative to society, now it has just become as mundane as real life. The internet used to be like walking into a funhouse and encountering distorted, overexaggerated versions of yourself and others around you; where you never knew what was going to appear around the corner apart from the fact it was going to be unexpected and exciting - now the internet is the equivalent of you staring into the bathroom mirror first thing in the morning with bags under your eyes, bed hair and too tired to even see your own mess of a reflection knowing you have another mundane, routine eight hour shift at work.
Facebook is not cool, it never was. It was only useful in having people you know spam you with ? you do not care about or making you realise why you had stopped talking to people you lost contact with in the first place. Twitter has always been an ocean of ? that has no relevance to anyone outside your timeline and Instagram is the seven deadly sins rolled into one single app.
We all thought innovation was in mobile - we were wrong. Its just made us sleepless zombies who feel like they are connected but has made us more narcissistic and bombarded us with more information than we know what to even do with it. Social media was supposed to save us and bring us together but instead it has made us even more disconnected from society. The internet is dead (boring) and we killed it. It's the equivalent of Geneva - a completely gentrified and soulless destination with the creativity and adventure completely ripped out by the people with too much power and spare cash. The smart people have ran out of ideas and the idiots with the money are winning.
Or maybe I've become the boring one. As the internet has now become a sad, depressing reflection of one's self it probably is me that has become mundane... ? it, I'm going on The Reason to argue in the latest Nas vs Jay-Z thread.
tl;dr

I agree completely
It has lost its luster as most things do in life eventually. That's why i've started to distance myself from it leaving my phone at home, not looking at the news or playing mobile games. really just trying to get reconnected with the world again. -
?
the internet is life, a window into different parts of life, and an abundance of info
you use it in a boring way -
If you could use it to make money, to save time or money for your family and entertainment, to get fine ass random ? constantly, to be treated as a DEMI-? by people who don't know you in real life, and build knowledge (good, bad, false, true and in between those gray areas) on things you otherwise would never have access to, and anything else within those confines, then it should NEVER be boring to you.
Just use it a a shining reflection of your best attributes, unless you truly just hate everything about yourself, well then kys, ijs.

are you looking for a challenge, Entertainment, happiness etc you should ask your that question?

it is what you make of it. i will agree that facebook, and its associated corporation are stifling the more innovative forms of social media that it so clearly dominates....
but as for the internet as a whole? hell nah bruh. innovation is actually being advanced in leaps and bounds, due to things like kickstarter, and the rest of the group funding websites.
I personally have used it in pretty much all the ways that kinggodgivbiz mentioned. my life has been entirely transformed by the information that ive found and utilized from the internet. I can surely say that i wouldnt be anywhere close to the person i am today without the tools given to me by the internet.
for example, im proud to say that i know, meet up with and regularly communicate with English speaking people in every single major country across the planet, covering all continents barring Antarctica of course.
It truly is how you use it. -
Everything gets boring
