When everybody talks about great southern rappers, 3 Stacks is always on the list. He is respected by rappers and peers alike. I have also seen him in many people's Top 10 (even Top 5). But yet nobody gives as much respect to his partner, Big Boi.
Yes, people will say 3 Stacks is the better rapper, and has been the better group member. And while I can agree with that, let's not act like he's light years better than Big Boi. IMO it's closer than most people think. As a group, I give it 55%-45% in favor of 3 Stacks. In the 90's, 3 Stacks >>> Big Boi.
But from 2000 - present, you can make a case for Big Boi being better than Andre. In fact, Stankonia was a tie for me. And everything after that, Big Boi >>>>. He has stayed consistently great, while 3 Stacks has really fluctuate. He has been a hit or miss. Also, Big Boi has put in alot more work than Andre has. With Speakerboxxxx/Love Below, Big Boi finished his side really quickly, while Andre took forever to finish his part. 3 Stacks work ethic has beenvery ? compared to that of Big Boi. Still, you could have said that 3 Stacks had the slight advantage...
Until now. Big Boi's new debut solo album has been leaked, and it's a great ? album. I've been playing it non-stop and I will be coppin it when it drops on Tuesday. And this is what gives Big Boi the advantage. Yes Andre has been slightly better as a member of Outkast (and Big Boi is actually right behind him), Big Boi has dropped a very dope album and has proven himself as a solo artist. Andre hasn't released a solo album. He hasn't proven that he can drop a dope album without the help of his partner. Big Boi has. And yes it is a big deal. If a rapper can't prove himself as a credible solo artist, then I have a hard time placing him above somebody that has. It's like in wrestling: if 2 wrestlers are a great tag team, but the inferior member of the team turns out to be a great solo wrestler, he should be placed above a wrestler who is a tag team specialist but hasn't proven himself as a solo wrestler.
I'm not putting down 3 Stacks, he is a great rapper and the better member of Outkast (marginally). But until he drops a very dope solo album, Big Boi >>>

1. STANKONIA WAS AND IS THE ONLY ALBUM THAT BIG SHYTED ON DRE.. I MEAN BIG KILLED THAT ? ...
2. SPEAKER BOXX WAS HOT GARBAGE! 3 SONGS AT THE MOST WAS GOOD.
3. SPEAKERBOXX (THE WAY U MOVE) WAS THE REASON THEY WENT PLATINUM, BUT THE LOVE BELOW (HEY YA) WAS THE REASON THEY WENT DIaMOND
4.BIG REALLLLY STEPPED IT UP THIS ALBUM AND HE NEEDED TO, I KNOW ALL THE TALK OF DRE HAS GOTTEN TO HIM
5. 3000 HAS KILLED EVERY TRACK THAT HE'S BEEN FEATURED ON IN THE PAST YEARS
6. DRE HAS WAYYY MORE ON HIS PLATE THAN BIG.. IE, CARTOONS, MOVIES... SO MUSIC IS ON THE BACK BURNER FOR HIM -
2 points and then i'm out.
1. Would we be having this discussion if those tracks with 3 Stacks had been included with the album?
2. Has Big Boi actually proven himself as a solo artist with all those features on his album?
Have those factors been considered in this discussion? -

what r u confused about?..
Yes, stankonia was the only album that big outdid dre on..
If it wasnt for dre, they wouldnt have a diamond album
the way u move, reset, and ghettomusic...and ill give u a freebee, were the only good songs on speakerbox -

^^i actually agree... I been listenin to Kast from day one... southernplayalistic... they are just a dope ass group who had crazy style... and their flows put them up high in the game.... to me they went downhill after aquemini n now started to come back... but i actually grew up on kast unlike some of these dudes so they might not c that... but much as i love them dudes individually dre up against jay, pac, etc... is ridiculous -
4 anybody that says Big Boi is better or equal or "its closer than people think" with Andre let me ask u this question. Name every classic Big Boi verse. Now name every classic Andre 3000 verse.
This is y Andre is rated above and beyond, and Big Boi is ill, Andres just better -

You said he ? on Dre. Did you listen to the album? His verses on "Gangsta ? ", "BOB", "Humble Mumble", "Red Velvet"? I do think he got Dre on Idlewild but thats about it.
SB/TLB was a collaborative effort and they both made it sell 5 Milli. Dre didnt even tour for that ?
"War", "Church", "Flip Flop Rock", "Knowing" were wack from Speakerboxx? U trippin son -

i can name some fiya ass big boi verses, but they wont = up to dre's..... -
I always thought Big Boi was a better overall emcee than Dre was. Big also has a way better work ethic than Dre. IMO Andre may be one of the laziest emcees to ever do it. All that potential and dude has barely tapped into any of it on a solo project. I will give Andre his props because dude can rap but he's VERY overrated, especially when alotta CASUAL outkast fans try and act like he is the only dope part of outkast. I hope Big Boi does numbers with his new album cuz the ? is fire.

I see some dudes in here have shown the Kung Fu grip they have on 3k's nuts once again. SMMFH

nooooo... Humble mumble, big kilt that ? ... Dre was good, but bigs verse was better... Gangsta ? .. Yes dre got it.. Go listen to slum beautiful and tell me who got that...bob, that ? was a tie...the both snapped on that....
Yes, sb/lb was a so called group thing, but u know good and dam well if hey ya wasnt on there, that ? wouldnt have dont them numbers... -
PUPU_IZ_DRO wrote: »i can name some fiya ass big boi verses, but they wont = up to dre's.....
exactly fam, Dre has been hyped up by alot of the "casual" Hip Hop fans who only heard the Walk it Out remix or sum ? like dat, but even real heads should kno dat verse 4 verse, Dre is simply a beta all around emcee. Big Boi is only beta at flowin faster, and he needed Dre ta teach him how to format songs as well. Plus, and this is tru spit, Andre's 1st verse on the Aquemini song is better than Big Boi's career up intil that point. -
Dre>Big Boi. Close thread

lol I dont need to listen to it since Ive played the album more then enough times to know that nobody got "? on".
Why wouldnt it have? They sold 4/5x plat with Stankonia, how is selling 5x plat with SB/TLB a stretch? -
if both rappers r very close, and its not a big deal to put 1 over the other, why the ? does this thread keep gettin made???

"jamacia" just don't like dre

nice argument but it doesn't change the FACT that Andre >>>>>>>>>> Big Boi
and Big Boi got too many features on this new album, but its still nice -

I diasgree, 3000's The Love Below album is better than Big Boi's ? , and I've heard the new Big Boi album and it's a good album but saying it's great is kinda far fetched. Big Boi showed signs of falling off on the Stankonia album, and then came the release of Speakerboxx and wow that ? was doo doo. Andre doesn't have to drop an album to be in anyones top 5, the dude has showed it on features as well as on Outkast albums. Big Boi showed promise on the first 3 Outkast album. -
....................big boi killed it on these tracks
