Im setting up a new game room. What would yall recommend?
I swaw a 50" Plasma for only $800 at the store today. Was real tempted to buy it, but I heard Plasma can have problems after a while. Image burn in for example, when the screen is paused. This would be a huge issue since I leave my PS3 on pause for very long periods of time when I'm not at home.
LCD is cool. Atleast with this I know what I'm getting. A safe bet.
LED looks incredible but mad expensive. I know it's lighter but who gives a ? when it's screwed into the wall. The image does look clearer and FASTER too. More fluid, it's incredible. Price not being an issue, are there any downsides to having an LED?
I will use my TV mostly for gaming so keep that in mind when giving recommendations. Thanks. I already got a Samsung LCD (garbage) and Sharp LCD (very nice). I'm looking for something in the 46" - 60" range. 52"-55" would be ideal if it doesnt cost too much.

I say go for the LED or stick with LCD.

led>lcd>>>>>>>>>>plasma>>>>>>>>>dlp
basically a led is a lcd just uses a different backlight which makes for a clearer picture and of course it is slimmer the standard on majority of leds is 120hz while most lcds are 60hz(they have 120 hz lcds but u gon have to dish out more money)
plasmas WILL burn in your screen i had one that now has a permanet nbc logo smh
get a led if its a significant price difference tho u not losing much by getting an lcd -
led is great but expensice
plasma is ?
stick with lcd
i got two
like you said safe bet -
Wow @ permanent NBC logo lol
Yeah, I hear Plasmas are just very poor TV's. I have NEVER heard one thing good about 'em.
I'd go LED if I had the money, but would settle with LCD. -

burn comes from having a still image on the screen for too long, like a paused game/movie or networks that have their logo in the same position all the time -
everyone i know whos had a plasma had it break within 3 yrs

They still make Plasmas? :kanyeshrug

I had my LCD for 5 years now and it's still good. I'll choose LCD over Plasma. Since LED are new, I'll assume they're better than LCDs. Make sure your screen is 40 inches and up.

I got plasma game on it all the time. You would need to leave your game paused a long time to get burn in. Buy whatever you can afford or looks best to you.

i will get my gf to buy me a LED i think. those look the best. she is rich.

Other issues with plasmas are that they weigh a ? ' ton, and they consume a lot of power. On average, twice as much as a comparably sized LCD.
The burn-in issue isn't as bad in the current generation of plasmas as it used to be, but it's still a problem. I'd say go with an LCD. If you can wait, wait until Labor Day. You should be able to catch a good sale.
