Lawrence has risen to the top of producers’ shortlist to join Sandra Bullock in the continuation of the hit Ocean’s franchise.
The female-centric OCEAN’S 11 REBOOT might be on the verge of making its next big score, as we’re hearing that X-Men: Apocalypse star Jennifer Lawrence is being eyed for a role opposite Sandra Bullock in the Warner Bros. caper.
This would re-team Lawrence with her Hunger Games writer-director Gary Ross, who is set to helm the reboot and is penning the screenplay with Queen and Country scribe Olivia Milch. Fans have been suggesting the Lawrence-Ross re-teaming as a possibility for months, but we’re hearing that Lawrence has landed at the top of the producers’ shortlist, as well.
Sources reveal that the story, which is expected to be a continuation of the mega-successful George Clooney-led trilogy, centers around Bullock’s character, who plays an ex-con and Danny Ocean’s sister. With a team of thieves, she sets out of steal a necklace from the Met Ball and frame a crooked gallery owner. Lawrence is being considered for the role of Bullock’s right-hand woman.
Ross is set to produce with Alison Thomas through their Larger than Life Productions, with Diana Alvarez serving as the executive. Jesse Ehrman and Julia Spiro will oversee for Warners.
The project was first announced back in October, when it was confirmed late Ocean’s producer Jerry Weintraub had concocted the concept with Clooney and Soderbergh. After Weintraub’s passing, the project understandably stalled, but Milch continued writing a draft which was turned in to producers. From there, Bullock came on board to serve as an anchor to what the studio hopes to be a cast rivaling the star-power of the Soderbergh films, which included Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts.

If Lawrence ultimately signs on, she could prove to be the box office potency for which producers have been aiming and would help attract further A-list talent to what is clearly Warners’ attempt to capitalize on the trend of the female-centric reboot; Sony’s Ghostbusters hits theaters this summer, while Lionsgate is in the works with an all-female Expendables sequel. Lawrence, who has a tendency to work with directors with whom she’s previously had successful collaborations, including David O. Russell and Frances Lawrence, would be reunited with Ross for the first time.
The film is expected to start shooting next fall, so it makes sense that producers would want to get their biggest cast members set as soon as possible. Lawrence, not surprisingly, maintains a demanding schedule, which includes her forthcoming comedy project with Amy Schumer (which Lawrence is co-writing), The Dive with Catching Fire and Mockingjay director Francis Lawrence, and an untitled drama with Darren Aronofsky. She recently wrapped on the sci-fi romance Passengers, opposite Chris Pratt, and will reprise her role as Mystique in this month’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
Lawrence is repped by CAA.

This is getting sickening. First the ? agenda then the feminist agenda. Everything is pussified.

They should just create new stories than just taking a classic movie and making an all female version or taking a classic character and making them ?
