Mixtapes are about to go more mainstream, thanks to the RIAA’s decision to make some streaming only recordings eligible for GRAMMY consideration.
The music mega site Pitchfork pays tribute to the tapes which could have won GRAMMYs if the RIAA had made this decision earlier by ranking the top 50 mixtape’s since 2000.
Pitchfork defines mixtape as “a free release, offered directly to rap fans.”

What do any of these Caucasian ? at Pitchfork know about pre 08 Hip-Hop, B? You can't pass judgement on any of these mixtapes unless you were knee deep in black / urban neighborhoods at that time to feel the full effect of their impact.
