there will be no war and north korea won't really do ? ... in 2016 china is not willing to go to war for north korea the north korean army is using weapons from the 1950's, they are not prepared for a modern war in any sense and don't have the tenacity for a guerrilla war, south korea does not want a war either nobody wants a war and everybody wants the status quo.
china does not want the north to join the south because it would mean having a us ally directly on their border and they are already basically surrounded by us allies.
south korea does not want war because they would have to provide tons of resources to the north also
both japan and south korea don't want war because any civilian casualties suffered will mostly come from their side
The north koreans are just full of bluster they might do little small ? from time to time just to provoke nations in the region but there will be no full scale war.
This. N Korea is like a chihuahua. All bark -
Meanwhile back @ the White House...

The US decided to drop the bombs because research showed that the traditional ground and naval and ir invasion of Japan would have disastrous [/quot

US used to wreck in most wars before the Korean war. Spanish American war...Mexican American war...plus the gulf war
America tied with Korea in the Korean War and we lost Vietnam
How Sway? Korea had to call China. America was in their borders damn near ready to wipe them out. The goal of the War was never to conquer the North and there wasn't any authorization to go there anyhow. They were planning on dropping Nukes then too. America secured the south which was the goal. I call that a V. Vietnam lost the entire country. Definitely a L. -
All that history ? don't matter, America isn't about to send ground troops in NK that would be dumb. it'll be drones and planes, we way to advanced to still be fighting using soldiers. Especially against them.

You do realize the US Military wasn't even allowed to send ground troops into north vietnam right? The war was unwinnable because of how they had to 'fight' it. -

It would have resulted in a lot more casualities true, doesn't change the fact we still would have continued to kick Japan's ass.
The estimate was s loss of around 500k plus American and Allied lives to invade the Japanese Island alone....put that in perspective
To make matters worse, their invasion staging areas would've been slammed by typhoons:
"The Divine Wind, or Kamikaze, of a powerful typhoon destroyed a foreign invasion force heading for Japan in 1281, and it was for this storm that Japanese suicide aircraft of World War II were named. On October 9, 1945, a similar typhoon packing 140-mile per hour winds struck the American staging area on Okinawa that would have been expanded to capacity by that time if the war had not ended in September, and was still crammed with aircraft and assault shipping- much of which was destroyed. US analysts at the scene matter-of-factly reported that the storm would have caused up to a 45-day delay in the invasion of Kyushu.
If there had been no atom bombs and Tokyo had attempted to hold out for an extended time- a possibility that even bombing and blockade advocates granted- the Japanese would have immediately appreciated the impact of the storm in the waters around Okinawa. Moreover, they would know exactly what it meant for the follow-up invasion of Honshu, which they had predicted as accurately as the invasion of Kyushu. Even with the storm delay and friction of combat on Kyushu, the Coronet schedule would have led US engineers to perform virtual miracles to make up for lost time and implement Y-Day as early in April as possible.
Unfortunately the Divine Winds packed a one-two punch.
On 4 April 1946, another typhoon raged in the Pacific, this one striking the northernmost Philippine island of Luzon on the following day where it inflicted only moderate damage before moving toward Taiwan. Coming almost a year after the war, it was of no particular concern. The Los Angeles Times gave it about a paragraph on the bottom of page 2. But if Japan had held out, this storm would have had profound effects on the world we live in today. "
" Of course, to some, all this discussion about the surprise 3,300 kamikaze aircraft, the delay of the Honshu landing until the rice paddies were flooded, etc., is all moot because the Japanese were supposedly just itching to surrender even before the dropping of the atom bombs and the Soviet Union's entry into the war. Well, we'll just have to save that one for another time. "

That was smart on the US part, war is all about strategy and the US used the best strategy to secure a win with minimal casualties and destroy the psyche of a entire nation. ? that act shook the entire world. Japan hasn't been the same since and alot of dem ? hate Americans even though their an now ally. -

I actually didn't know that. But i can see why that was a foolish move. Still, America was no longer able to secure the original stated goal of securing the South either. It didn't help that SV was nowhere near as organized as SK and was corrupt. America cut and ran because of domestic pushback especially because of Nixon's scandal. The US still in SK. -
