An Olympic gold medal is just as valid as an NBA championship if not more so. It's the truest world championship & void of the NBA's influence as far as rigging the results and favoritism and instructing refs how to call the game...
I prefer the NBA as we all do because we consider it the highest level but the NBA is a business where the Olympics although a business allows the athletes to just play the sport. If Melo or anyone else only has the gold medals that's valid...it takes 4 yrs not guaranteed a spot and it's for free
The NBA is king tho and they all definitely want that chip but not every champ has a gold too. The ones that do are at a level above the others. -

Nothing is more rigged than having 8-10 nba franchise caliber players all on the same team. Our worst guy on the team (prolly Harrison Barnes) is still better than 95% of all the other players on the foreign teams. Giving props to NBA players for winning the gold would be like giving props to Floyd Mayweather for winning a gold in boxing in the Olympics. It ain't fair. I don't give a ? about close scores either. It ain't what the other teams are doing, it's about what the U.S. is not doing to make them games close. -

If the USA wasn't naturalizing the other countries talent and getting them into AAU programs it would be better but the spirit of the competition is there...maybe you forget the Olympics is as sport for non professionals but because the pros play the basketball and there is no other NBA level league it looks bad...get it back to 19-23yrs non pros and that problem is fixed.
The NFL & NBA games are influenced by other factors than players playing, and that's a fact. If you don't know then you don't understand how these things work...a lot of what I say will go over young ? heads but it'll make sense in a few yrs -
