Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson continues his meteoric rise to the top of Hollywood's elite, and this year he's cemented himself as the world's highest paid actor.
The Rock keeps his schedule packed at all times, and when he's not shooting a movie he's building a Youtube channel or contemplating a return to the WWE. That diversified portfolio and constant movement is what helped him bring in $64-million last year (via Forbes). He will return as Lieutenant Hobbs in next year's Fast & Furious 8 and will return as Raymond Gaines in a planned sequel to his 2015 hit San Andreas, which brought in an impressive $473-million. On top of that, his Central Intelligence film with Kevin Hart performed well at the box office, and his Ballers HBO project continues its success as well.
He's also kickstarting another franchise with the Baywatch reboot and has films like the Jumanji sequel with Kevin Hart and Jack Black in the works. He's also working on the Shazam! project for DC, where he will star as Black Adam.
While his $64 million is impressive, Jackie Chan isn't far behind at No. 2. Chan brought in $61 million last year without a stateside hit. Chan has his hands in producing, investing, and acting, and is enjoying a great relationship with China's growing film industry. Matt Damon hits at No. 3 with $55 million, mostly due to The Martian and Jason Bourne. Tom Cruise ranks at No. 4 with $53-million for his work in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, though he also earned sizable fees for Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and Mena.
Johnny Depp was mired in controversy this year, but that didn't hurt his earnings for the next Pirates of the Caribbean film or Alice Through the Looking Glass. He comes in at No. 5 with $48-million. No. 6 on the list is Ben Affleck, who brought in $43-million for his work in the DC Cinematic Universe, specifically Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

I think Sam has the highest grossing movie totals when you add all his movies together. But I don't think he's the highest paid ever. But I could be wrong. -
